That strategy floatingmagictree mentioned is called the FEAR strategy, and allows certain Pokémon to be able to beat almost any other. FEAR stands for Focus Sash (Or Band), Endeavour, Attack, Ratatta. The reason it mentions Ratatta is because the FEAR strategy has become synonymous with it. However, the strategy can be countered provided the opposing Pokémon is  immune to the type of your first-strike move (Quick Attack, Aqua Jet etc.), is slower, uses a first-strike move the same turn you use yours or has a Focus Sash or the move Endure.    Also, what has to happen is: They attack,, get your pokémon down to 1 health. (Your pkmn doesn't faint fue to Focus Sash) On that same turn your pkmn must use endeavour to get it down to 1 health as well. Then use Quick Attack (or something like that) to defeat it, because a move will always do at least 1 damage.
