Hey... I said that!
Well, the first sentence anyway.
If you're wondering why they created it in the first place, they didn't know it would get as big as it was. And for the reason why they approved of the idea, it was to clean up Inspiration and More - which was made to clean up the other forums.

cheddar, we seem to both agree about what Inspiration and More is for and about: Inspiration, even though the topics may not relate to Scratch. And why talk about inspiration? We know that any topic can be proved as inspiration. So let's move on.
Should we (I'm talking about everyone) voice their opinions about Inspiration and More? It's better than just yelling when we haven't really stated all of our opinions yet.

big-bang has once given a link to his suggestion for Text-Based Games. I found it: Forum Games Category Read it, along with the posts. History.

Mr-X, all topics can be proved to have inspiration.
What really annoys me are the topics (practically all) that can be called inspiration, but have not been posted because of inspiration.
How many topics do you think have been posted because of inspiration? Barely any, if any.
People will just post junk and feel safe because it can be proved to have inspiration. Or it feels like it.

I thought the biggest reason was that it had nothing to do with Scratch. At least that was Jonathanpb's biggest arguement...
Jonathanpb’s complaints had nothing to do with the Scratch administator's decision to remove TBG, he has no power over the abolishment of any Scratch forum. I was referring to andresmh’s reasons for removing TBG.

Of course not, are you crazy!?!? XD
Just kidding. But mostly, we want to talk and help other scratchers, but eventually everybody's problem gets solved, and there ends up being nothing to do. So what do we do? Talk off-topic.
And again, some of these things DO inspire others to make projects. Currently The-Saint is now making a pokemon game just like Pokemon Silver, and I should know, because I actually beta-tested the beginning of it, and it was great. And in addition, he said he got the idea of doing it partly from FMT's Pokemon Center thread.
So Inspiration and More really doesn't need to be deleted. Its required because people want it. Its required because of human nature. And you can't change that, I'm afraid.

A topic is not made FROM inspiration all the time; topics are made FOR inspiration.

Should we (I'm talking about everyone) voice their opinions about Inspiration and More? It's better than just yelling when we haven't really stated all of our opinions yet.
I was emphasizing on inspiration before because as trying to point out that Inspiration and More has not suddenly lost it's purpose (inspiration) and turned into some kind of off-topic waste dump where many threads serve no purpose to anybody. The main topic of this thread was to influence the nature of the discussions going on in the 'Inspiration and More' forums because inspiration was lacking in them; on the contrary, I believe there is and I feel there's no need to change the discussion because the discussions are inspirational already. Hence my emphasis on inspiration because inspiration is the main reason for this section's existence here on the Scratch forums.
(Hopefully I made myself clear because I rushed to type this as I have class soon).
But yes, let's move on, and have everyone talk about how they feel about the current state of 'Inspiration and More'.

There's one thing I want to point out. It's not called just "Inspiration", it's called "Inspiration and more". I thought it was originally created as a place to put offtopic posts rather than having them clutter the main forums, like how the TBG was there to put forum games in. It was an offtopic section from the start, at least that's how I remember it.

I understand your point. It's wonderful to have people discussing innocent matters, making games because of it and so on. It doesn't need to be deleted, but if it came to a vote, I'd go for its deletion... which probably won't happen!
I think it's more likely that it'll be split into several forums, due to cheddargirl's post in the Suggestions forum. I'm happy with that as well, and it doesn't get deleted!
And in response to your first question: I am crazy!

Look. How many people do you think post topics in Inspiration and More for inspiration? Not many, if any.
Let's quote André's post in there.
andresmh wrote:
This forum is about things that can inspire people to create future Scratch projects even if they are not 100% related to Scratch. Some topics will be closed if they become chat rooms or to chaotic. The goal is to keep the rest of the forums free of unrelated threads.
To summarize it: Inspiration and More was created to inspire people, even if the topics weren't 100% related to Scratch. And the goal is to keep the other forums clean.
Andrés says that it's for inspiration (along with keeping the forums clean, but that isn't important here). How many topics are being posted for inspiration? They're mainly posting it for fun, and they post off-topic things.
Think about it. Do you think people are using Inspiration and More as an off-topic forum where they can post freely? It sure seems like it.

Um... okay.
I feel that it's still got some nice threads in there, but the amount of completely random threads are growing. I'm not being negative about it (or so I think), so here are some examples:
"I like chocolate chip cookies!"
"Did you know that if you eat a thorn, you can slit your throat?"
"Guess what color my hat is!"
But anyway, I'll side for your idea about splitting it up.

It was created for inspiration (obviously) and to keep the forums clean. You were right though, it's just that it was also for inspiration.
Honestly, if they had named it Inspiration, we'd have a cleaner forum.

Read cheddargirl's suggestion: I suggest that the layout of 'Inspiration and More' be changed.

That is the perfect plan(Thank God for CheddarGirl), so it can actually seperate inspiration, and, well, more....such as collabs, out-of-Scratch stuff and etc.

If you are not certain. I think most people know it when they post an off topic thread. Also, TBG was deleted for the same reason, so why does I&M get to stay?
TBG WAS NOT DELETED! It was put in a separate forum column and is still avalible. There was an election, (the whiz and Nikkiperson2 won) and it's still up!!!

Sorry for bumping (it's five days old, yet still on the third page)--but, along with Cheddargirl's idea, why don't we make it so you have to state a reason how your topic could be inspiration? I'm not saying that I agree with you, martianshark-I'm quite afraid I don't, as anything can be inspiration, but this, I suppose could help...

Not a bad idea... but anything can be proven as inspiration so there's no point.
