Translation of the documentation into french

Hi all thanks for your great work.

I am currently teaching Scratch in france in a school to 8-9 years childrens (CE2 and CM1).

In order to provide the 'students' an accurate documentation, I plan to translate the documentation elements like:
- the "Getting Started" Guide
- and the "Scratch cards".

Unfortunately, on scratch website, these documents are only published in the "pdf" format.

Is it possible to have these document (in english of course) but in their original source format for me not to start again ... from scratch ;-) ?

All the best,

Yves Ludwig

Re: Translation of the documentation into french

Hi Yves  smile
I'm Kevin and I've started to translate the Scratch Getting Started. But since I'm not native French, the translation didn't become that good. If you want, I can send you all the layout files for the Cards and the Getting Started so that you can finish and correct the work I've started once. The Getting Started is Adobe InDesign and the Cards are created with Adobe Illustrator. You find trial versions of these programs on the Web if you don't have them already ;-)

Cheers

Kevin

Hi Yves
Si tu trouves quelques heures, voil  le lien pour le "Getting Started" (je l'ai traduit "Entrée dans Scratch") et les cartes Scratch (elles sont encore completement en Anglais...).
Télécharger comme archive ZIP.

Re: Translation of the documentation into french

you can download a 30-days-trialversion of
Illustrator : http://www.soft32.com/download_342.html
InDesign: http://www.download.com/Adobe-InDesign/3000-2183_4-10446448.html

Afterwards, you can uninstall the programs if you don't need them anymore.

Re: Translation of the documentation into french

Dear quotze,

I checked your translation of the 'Getting started guide' and have a revision.

I  am currently using scratch for a school of 24 children of 8-9 years and I distributed this revision today.

Thanks for your help.

(The dificulty was for me to find time for the check & the adobe indesign product).

In addition, I had also some propositions for some titles ('Entrée dans SCRATCH' - for example is not a usual translation for 'Getting started with Scratch' - I'd prefer something 'Premiers pas avec SCRATCH' that is more common).

I put the file on http://yve.free.fr/getting_started.zip

All the best,

Yves

I don't remember exactly but there was a free website where you can upload your pdf files and it will email you the converted document.

If anyone else remember that site URl then please let me know too..

Hi reeta - I removed a bunch of commerical links from your signature.  Please don't link to commercial sites in Scratch.  Thank you.
