Of course you need one, and also check your microphone settings. I really don't know what else could be causing the problem.
Perhaps your microphone is broken and needs to be repaired?

Well,i don't have a microphone,AND I WANT ONE!

Try without one. My computer can record without a mike, although the quality is bad. Yours, if it is semi-new may have one already.
If it doesn't,They will sell them at best buy and office depot for cheap. You probably won't need anything expensive.

The problem is your mic is low-fidelity.

d-boy,
You do not provide enough information for us to help you. For example, where is you music?
in your head?
played on an acoustic instrument or sung?
played on a MIDI instrument?
recorded on a CD?
recorded in an iPOD?
...
Importing sounds that are in WAV and MP3 formats is pretty easy.
Recording sounds with a microphone is pretty easy (though I'd recommend external software like audacity, rather than the crude recording method built-in to scratch).
Anything else will be harder.
Does flute music count? (I play the flute. XD, I don't think the mic could pick up the sound.)

Do you know if you can record sounds coming from the computer you're using with a microphone? I'm not so sure I think I tried but it didn't pick up any sound. BTW I'm using a laptop. Thanks! Oh, something funny is that I tried using one of those singing game mics and it works! Or is it supposed to? Or am I talking to much?

Hey roflcatz, when it comes to wav files, Scratch only accepts uncompressed wav file (it is likely that, if you're using a converter, the option will show up as Windows PCM).

Well one thing about changing microphone settings:
If you use the rocket fish 2.1 sound card, using windows 2000(Like me)here's how to change mic settings:
1.)Go to surround mixer.
2.)Change line-in and microphone.
Otherwise your sound card is broken.
Hope this helped!

Try disconnecting and reconnecting your microphone, and the static should go away. It is usually cause when the microphone itself isn't connected properly. As for the speed of the recording it should be fine as long as you don't edit the speed of the microphone.
Scratch on!

I recommend youconvertit.com . Type your email, choose MP3 and the file, then wait a few mins and you will have pretty mp3s. I'm not sure about iTunes though. You might have to look in Help and search exporting.
