Scratch

I was working on Skyline OS 4, it has a lot of text in the sprites and lots of sprites and scripts. I clicked save and that's when it happened. When it happened I didn't know there was a forum topic on it and figured out that they 'heal' when I click edit and then ok in the paint editor but it wastes time. I will try the other click save several times method if it happens again. I had a browser (Google Chrome) running at the same time. There are a few large sprites for the desktop background but that's all I can think of. I hope this gets fixed in 2.0!

I've been sorta keeping track of my cases, and I've noticed a pattern. It usually happens when:
1.Running a web browser
2.Keeping a paint editor open for an extended period of time
3.Trying to edit a script while a large amount of other scripts are also running, "forever" loops especially.
4.Using a large portion of your CPU
I don't think its anything we didn't already notice as reoccurring themes, but I hope this helps.

It is linked to the RAM and computer usage. People say when they have a lot of art or lots of scripting, or lots of Scratch applications, it crashes.

Why? RAM is short for Random Access Memory, which applications use to hold temporary information, which Scratch does a lot. This is why because of more information is used, Scratch 'hiccups' and starts acting weirdly.

Why wasn't it in previous versions of Scratch? The current versions are the ones who are the most complicated, which require more RAM. Or, Scratchers got advanced enough to build such complex applications.

Why doesn't it happen to other users? It all depends on how much RAM they have and how well their version of Scratch and their operating system handles it. Mac OS is much WORSER WORSER WORSER WORSER than Windows at handling this information.

Mac OS sucks my idiot. I really hate Mac OS. I feel like swearing 1000 times.

Its never happened to me before, but I've heard of it elsewhere, and lets get this problem solved once and for all!

The most recent idea is IT is somewhere in the file UnicodePlugin.dll, which is written in C.

Characteristics:
IT is very difficult to reproduce. IT sometimes appears randomly, and IT usually happens with lots of text or editing a sprite with lots of text. in the Pain(t) Editor.

Statistics:
IT Happens when you:
     save the project (reported 4 times)
     close Scratch (reported 1 time)
     save art w/ text (reported 1 time)
     press OK in the paint editor (reported 1 time)
     multiple windows open, switching between (reported 4 times) Detailed report, domben! Good job!
     entered presentation mode (reported 1 time)
     press the undo button with a lot of text on a sprite (reported 1 time)
     upload then cancel a project (reported 1 time)
     in the middle of typing in the paint editor (reported 6 times) (3 of those with lots of other sprites/scripts)
     while Scratch was eating up memory (reported 1 time)
     drawing after typing (reported 2 times)
     pressing enter a lot in the paint editor (reported 1 time)
     while re-positioning text (reported 1 time)
     randomly, with lots of text (reported 1 time)
     just plain randomly (reported 4 times)
     dragging a script (reported 1 time)
     editing a script (reported 1 time)
     switching sprites (reported 1 time)
     textful Scratch window open, then minimized Scratch (reported 1 time)

IT happens most often when you: Well just look at this graph.

Those are the 4 most common forms of IT.

It happened to me just now. When you have text in the cotume and you start painting, it disappears.

Yeah it hapens to me on other sites left click on scratch click ram click on the webcam go to the memory gauge set it to 100 or higher<when[Left click  ]clicked>
<go to[ Webcam icon<set{Memory gauge  }to( 100 or higher

This is what happens to me.

I'm using the paint editor, and lets say i move a selection onto the text. Then, the text pops over the selection, then the dissapearing text strikes.
