It has come to my attention that more and more scratchers are doing crazy stunts to get noticed, and make projects saying things like:
-I'm quitting!
-I'm dying!
-Everyone hates me!
-I got hacked!
So they can get people to look at those projects and feel bad for them to get what I like to call, 'pity views'. I want to prevent another generation of scratches who think that this is a good way to get views. It isn't! And besides, Scratch isn't about being popular, or being on the front page. It's about learning, and having fun doing it! Don't feel pressured and think that you MUST be popular, because it seems to me that many Scratchers think being popular is important.
I'm not saying it isn't a good thing to get lots of views, I'm just suggesting that you do it by working hard on a project, and getting praise for a job well-done. I didn't get to where I am by making people feel bad for me, I had fun animating, and making new friends So again- don't feel that you need to be popular. Just have FUN with it!

Good advice. I think we're starting to see that no more of those "I KWIT BCUZ I HAV NU FRENDZ AND I M BEIN BOOLEED111!!!111" projects are getting front page.
In short, I think the Golden Age of Scratch has begun.

So... First was the stone age... then the bronze age... then the iron age... uh...
I am suddenly inspired to make a Scratch Timeline!
First event: "Text based games are deleted!" *gAsp*

No, first it was the first age. Then the doody age. Then the WOTF/Attention grabber age. And now finally is the Golden Age. We finally have peace here on Scratch!

There was a Golden age once. Before all of the drama-seekers came in 2008.
-sigh- How I miss Scratch in '07. It was a good time. A peaceful time. Where amazing games roamed the front page, and everyone got along.

This is great! But no one listens. I wonder if the people who do post the "I Quit" projects even think about it. If I were able to change something on the website on of the things would be to change the "1 new message" box to the alerts box and maybe have messages like this to go on it. Of course it is a rough draft idea and will probably never happen.
I doubt my idea would even help.

No, contest are different... If people wanna let other people know they are quitting, thats fine with me. But if they come back A DAY LATER that is * stupid... The worst announcement Ive seen is the 'IM GONNA KILL MYSELF' One... Thats just going to far... If you want, you could make a list: PEOPLE WHO AGREE WITH ME on your top post.... That always helps

i also kinda (no offence) hated all of the cats (if they were JUST like one picture)... , but announcements are worse. but, people on scratch should make what they want, whether it be games, animations, cats or announcements, we can never change that.... EVER

We can't change that, but WE can change how popular it gets.
Yes, us, The Veterans of The Scratch Community, can definitely make a difference!
