It doesn't really matter what the variables are called. But you could apply your methods no matter what the variables are called. I named the variables scrollX and scrollY because it gives people an idea of the purpose of the variables.
Yeah - but Cameras and trueX,Y (Helps Offscreen movement) are the way it's normally done in other languages. Like in The Sims Carnival Game Creator there were cameras, except you didn't have much control over them except to make them follow something.

Yes, you are correct. I don't have too much experience with coding this sort of thing in other languages but in flash you would change _x or _y to scroll. But for the purpose of making a scrolling background in scratch I think that naming the variables scollX/Y is just fine.

To scroll vertically, you have to follow the tutorial but replace 480 with 360 and replace x with y.

is it supposed to scroll and then end then start again? I did exactly what you said on method2 and 1.

wow. that is cool. do you know how to make the backround scroll?
also you could just make many, many, many costumes for the background and make it so that it changes backgrounds as long as you hold down the button (note this is not the best way cuz the background would have to be just 1 pixel collumn different than the last, making it hours of work.
