College.

Pretty simple topic... Where are you planning to go to college and what do you want to study? If you're in high school feel free to post SAT/ACT scores and other things of that nature.

Astronomy is easy. There is space, and then E=MC2. E= energy M=mass C= the speed of light 2= squared (a number times itself)

And then there's the big bang, the M theory, the quark theory, and so on.

I wouldn't say astronomy is easy, the theory of relativity describes black holes and it ain't easy  hmm

Re: College.

Weellll, in Canada, if you're going to college you're usually studying very open-ended or artsy stuff, and as I want to be an engineer of sorts, I'll be attending university. Most people in Canada go to a university if they choose to do post-secondary education.

Anyhow, I'll probably be going to the University of Waterloo. And guess where I live  tongue

Nice. Yale is awesome.

I want to go to Yale, MIT, or UPenn probably.... I visited Harvard and it was just... meh. They definitely seemed to know that they're the best school in the world, if you know what I mean... (Elitism etc.)

Re: College.

My dream College is definitly MIT. I doubt it will happen, but you never know.
You asked for SAT scores? On a recent one, I got a 1850. However, I am taking a class to raise it.
CAL tech would be nice, I like California.

I'm haven't taken it yet so I don't know if 1850 is good. But in the US we have 2 major tests that colleges look at to see if they want you. The ACT and the SAT. On the ACT you can score up to 36, and 2600 on the SAT. Hope that helped  smile  btw when I took the ACT in 7th grade I got 17  big_smile

I'm graduating HS this April and going to college in the Fall.

Re: College.

I want to stay close to home so I will probably go to the University of Memphis. If I went somewhere else, I would choose MIT(Although I probably won't), Harvard, Yale, UCLA, and there are plenty more I'm looking at atm.

The SAt test max is 2400. Not 2600. Anyways, for MIT they need to be around 2100. However, I can take the test as many times as I need to.

MIT doesn't give merit scholarships, most top-level schools don't, but they'll provide grants or loans to cover 100% of your "demonstrated need".

Just wondering, how old are you? If you have enough time you can easily raise that score to the 2100 you mentioned. The biggest issue is getting a very high math score for MIT/Cal Tech, of course, with the engineering/math focus.

I took the SAT in 7th grade and got a 1750 (580/590/580), got a 198 on the PSAT in 9th grade, and I've gotten up to a 2100 on SAT practice tests. I'm aiming for a 215 or higher on the PSAT this year (I'm taking it next week).

I wasn't saying that s/he wouldn't get in, I was actually wishing them luck.

Or was that not the purpose of that post? If not, please explain?

Re: College.

It is exceedingly difficult to get into Harvard/Brown/Yale. Honestly, anyone needs luck when you're facing the most competitive applicant pools in the world combined with a <10% acceptance rate. Even if you have perfect ACT/SAT scores and a 4.0 GPA, although I'm not sure what your scores are like, you might not get accepted. It's insane.

Exactly. Also, they say that your chance of getting accepted into Harvard raises by a LOT if someone closely related to you went there.

Yeah, that's true on varying levels at almost any school.

After visiting Harvard I have no real desire to go there, lol...
