Sound won't work in Scratch!
For some reason, in my project so far, my sound effects aren't working. I even turned the volume all the way up, but it didn't make one sound. Can anyone help me find a solution?!

A couple of things to try...
- Does your computer have a sound card? Are other programs able to make sounds?
- Is the sound muted? Again, are other programs able to make sounds?
- If it's only the Scratch Play Note block that is having trouble then it might be the volume of your computers MIDI player, often controlled separately from the over-all volume. Try right-clicking on the volume control and see if more advanced control panel shows up.
- If it's the Scratch Play Sounds block, make sure that the actual sound file has been imported to the sprite (or stage) that is trying to use the block. It is possible to copy a block that looks like it will run the sound to a sprite that doesn't actually have the sound imported - I know because I have made that mistake recently

I'm using Scratch 1.4.1 on Windows XP. I'll try your ideas, Paddle2See.

BTW, it's the [blocks]<play drum( )for( )secs>[/blocks] blocks and the [blocks]<play sound[/blocks] blocks that can't play.

Sometimes it's not MIDI, if you can't find that, then try turning up SW Synth.
