Do you think Obama is a good president or a bad one?
I think he is ruining the United States!

I would also guess your republican. I like neither McCain nor Obama, However I don't agree associating government with religion, nor do I particularly like Palin. So I supported obama

Well, most families here are loving it like McDonalds.

Uhh. No, I'm not a fan of Obama. I wasn't a fan of McCain either, but I generally agreed with McCain's policies over Obama's. No, I'm not a "republican". I'm a moderate. I don't compare candidates, I compare candidates' views on the major issues.
Obama's campaign was incredible, McCain seemed to want to lose the election, haha. I'm worried about our countries future though. From what I've heard, not only does the top... 5% I think it was, pay roughly 90% of our taxes, but we're running a $2 trillion dollar budget deficit...
I honestly haven't studied his healthcare proposal enough to form a good opinion about it, but if we're going by previous examples (France, etc), I don't think this type of system has worked well in the past. Perhaps Obama's plan is better, but I'm not sure.
It's sort of difficult to form an opinion simply by watching the news. Every news channel is either biased against him (Fox), or doesn't say anything bad about him (...CNN?). So you have to do your own research to figure out what's actually going on

Actually, I don't mind free health care. I just don't like the fact that he's trying to implement it during a time of economic distress (which will cause more economic distress) and I don't like the way the government and Obama is explaining it - it's so... vague and deceptive. For example:
taken from the White House website
The President’s plan will not add one dime to the deficit today or in the future and is paid for in a fiscally responsible way. It begins the process of reforming the health care system so that we can further curb health care cost growth over the long term, and invests in quality improvements, consumer protections, prevention, and premium assistance. The plan fully pays for this investment through health system savings and new revenue including a fee on insurance companies that sell very expensive plans.
(Source: http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/health_care/plan/)
My questions:
- Exactly what is being changed and reformed so that health care is less expensive? How is it guaranteed that these reform will reduce the price of health care?
- Where is this 'health care systems savings' and 'new revenue' coming from (other than the aforementioned fees imposed on health care companies with expensive plans)?
- A fee price put on expensive plans is likely to be passed on to the customers rather than encourage health care companies to reduce their prices. Wouldn't a fee on health care companies just make expensive health care plans more expensive?

I guess he is doing ok. He has already used the amount of money Bush used in all 4 of his years in one month! But again, Bush put him in a bad position. I have a little faith in him.

I agree, he's ruining America. He's just putting America in more debt, and more debt, and more debt...

This is soooooo hypocritical. We need to spend money to get out of the recession. Would you rather have even more higher taxes? NO! And I'm pretty sure McCain would do the same thing. We need money to throw into the economy after so much has been taken out.

He is not horrible, but not great. He is focusing on getting big companies money that he is forgetting people with no health insurance. That is definitely not great.

False.
Tax cuts --> Increased consumer spending --> No more recession.
Government spending just increases government debt, which is also an issue. Consumer spending is generally a much more effective method of improving our economy.

Honestly, I hate it how you people judge him when he has barely been president for long enough. It hasn't even been a year! Now, I like him better than I would've liked McCain. What I hated about McCain was that he acted liberal at first but then *snap* after it was him and Obama he was a Bush follower the whole way. And have you seen how many heart attacks this guy had? What if he died on the job? Palin 4 prez? I would rather die than have someone who didn't know Africa was a continent as president!

I don't very much like him...I hear he's making some school plan, cutting our giant Summer Break into shatters all across the year. This'll drive kids crazy, them knowing the local pool is open but they have to study for 3 hours. I have no idea if this is true, however.

It's better than * No Child Left Behind! And seriously, have you SEEN the average SAT score in America? It's horrible! Kids like that NEED extra time in school, it'll help them out in the long run. Too bad most of them are too stupid to realize it.

OK, it was just my opinion. I'm not putting my opinion to flame.

Ah. Let's just say Obama Stinks!
(I use Italic usually when I'm lying or not in that kind of mood. Bold: Serious)
Meh. I don't think he'll ruin our lives. Or flourish. Let's say he'll keep us alive. I don't think that in my opinion, and I doubt it's yours, but it balances. Back to the opinion session, this ain't any chatroom! I hope.
