490 Character messages (or higher) disappear

I was writing to one of my "fellow Scratchers" The message had 498 characters. So I told myself: Oh, just a bug in scratch... Then I tried again, taking away some of the letters, and words that didn't matter that much, so it had 491 characters. It disappeared again. So I rewrote the WHOLE message. It still didn't work! My fingers were hurting. I gave up.
But that's not the only time it has happened. It's every time it reminds me not to type more than 500 characters. When it does, I backspace some letters that aren't important, and it still doesn't work.
If it helps, this has happened to me about 30 times, I only type that much if I have a lot to say, which I usually do.

I hope you can fix it!  wink  ,

I don't know what's going on, but I'd suggest copying your typed text if you can at certain points so you don't have to retype everything.

Re: 490 Character messages (or higher) disappear

I haven't been able to duplicate this problem, exactly.  I've been able to enter comments of up to 499 characters.  Where I have had trouble, is when I've tried to enter comments over 500, realized my mistake and deleted a few characters.  Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't (in my experience).   I haven't found the exact problem here.

As of right now, I always copy my text to the clipboard before clicking on the button when I am trying to post a long comment.

When you hit them 500 limit then take some away it won't work anymore.

If a comment you want to submit is too long, you can try posting part of it and posting the rest of it in a reply.

I've noticed that, too. Sometimes, even if a comment is only like 370 characters long, it doesn't post. It happens randomly and spontaneously.

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

For me, sometimes I have to click it over and over (clickety clickety!) until it works. Double commenting doesn't seem to happen to me, fortunately!

Re: 490 Character messages (or higher) disappear

I recently noticed on two other websites that allow a limit of words that the counter sometimes delayed eg:

I type this but it still displays me as not typing a few things.

I havn't seen this on Scratch, but perhaps there's more words than the counter says? Most likely this is just me xD
