i've been impostorized once and i know a scratch user who was hacked. But how can we prevent that from happening?

Good password
You can't get hacked unless it was a professional
It was probably most likely guessed or stolen

"Imposterizing?" Nice word.
Hacking doesn't often happen on this site unless you're a controversial character.
No one said 'Imposterizing'

You just need a good, strong password, and you'll be fine.
Here's a link to a thread on good passwords: ..... BE SAFE!
It's worth reading some of the replies as well, they've got additional information. And by the way, if your password is "password", change it at once.

If your password is your username change it at once.

They said "Impostorizing."

I still don't see any words that say 'Imposterizing', unless this is on another topic.

Wow, you win! I never noticed.

Shouldn't this be moved to All About Scratch? It isn't a bug... so I think it belongs there.

I agree. ^^ *moves topic*

I can't see why anybody would want to hack an account on a children's website. That's just absurd.
All I can say is don't do anything to make someone WANT to hack your password, and have a password that's easy for YOU to remember but hard for people to guess.

Me and my friend were just discussing that yesterday.

There are many reasons. And first, this isn't a children's website. Adults use it too.
First of all, they may do it for fun. This might be their hobby, or they're practising their skills. This is real pathetic.
Second, they can get power. Can you imagine what would happen if a hacker hacked into an account of the Scratch Team? They could send custom messages, they could mess up the devolopment of the Scratch program - they better have strong passwords.
Third, they can make people look bad. If there's a Scratcher they hate, they can post rude comments on their account and hope that the real user gets blamed for it. This is just sick.
Fourth, they might want to scare everyone. Nothing much, but it's sure happening.
No, I don't have a fifth.

What Nikki meant is that hackers usually aim for banks or other sites they can actually make PROFIT off.

Absurd.

That's just ludicrous. Why would a serious professional programmer waste their time hacking administrators of a random website for "power" that doesn't even give them any gain?

An immature kid might do this, but not a normal adult who has a job, and a life.

Same as above.
Lol. xP Quit this stereotype madness. Hackers are not masters of evil, they're just programmers, much like anybody from the Scratch Team. Except that they're more evil. Still. xP

You sound like me when I'm going through a list of points and proving them wrong.
In a way, I think we're both right. Mix our opinions together and it makes more sense.
1. It is absurd. But they sometimes do this, so I put it in.
2. They might not get any profit, but they might do it for other things... like if they hated the Scratch Team (I don't see why), they could try to hack and mess up the website. Though people nowadays often will do anything for money. Ah well...
3. I didn't mention anything about kids or adults. But that's true.
4. Same as 3.
If hackers couldn't program, I would wonder how they could hack so well.

I disagree with your points there, sorry, for the reasons I pointed out above. xP
Btw I'm pretty sure that hacking Scratch isn't "fun". If they REALLY wanted fun they would go and hack Facebook or YouTube or something (btw they did).

For the LAST TIME, IMPOSTORIZE IS NOT A WORD. I don't know what I would use instead, but Impostorize isn't a word.
How do you know they were trying to... er... pretend to be you? Maybe they were trying to make Survivorduck but saw that name was taken so removed a letter?
