Introducing people to Scratch.

I'm sure many of us have introduced someone to Scratch before. Who knows, they might be a famous user now. And if you were introduced by someone else, be sure to thank them.

Well, I was shown Scratch by my younger brother, complex. So I gotta thank him.

I've tried showing a lot of people Scratch, not all of the attempts successful.

I think I showed Chrischb and Jonathanpb, but I'm not sure if they knew about Scratch already. There was also tamtymat, brondsis, and TreeFriend.

How did YOU find out about Scratch? Perhaps it was friend... family... or just something you found on Google.

Re: Introducing people to Scratch.

My dad teaches computer programming and shared about it with me.

I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share - Nomolos

Re: Introducing people to Scratch.

Um, i was looking for the fancy pants game on my schools computer (freetime) when i found this lame version of it. I typed in the search box "School" and all these weird games popped up! Thats when the bell rang, and i went home, typed up the address, and played for the rest of the day. I didnt download scratch until the middle of my dad and moms vacation (they had separate vacations because my mom needed to help her best friend stephanie and my dad couldnt afford to take more than two people. My mom told me i could download it over the phone, and i made my very first project for my dad who came home two days after that.

Re: Introducing people to Scratch.

I read discover magazine and they had this mind games section using blocks from scratch. Scratch looked interesting, so I decided to try it!

Back. For now. Maybe.

Re: Introducing people to Scratch.

My mom came a cross a camp for it, and I immediately said yes. But wait until you hear this. You see, this was a summer camp, and it was winter when she told me. I was so eager for the camp, I needed something to help me pass the time. (Note: I did not have a DS or Wii in this period.) I decided to try Flash (i didn't know you had to pay) but whe I downloaded it, my comp crashed. It still doesn't work.

my friend told me about it about 2 years ago, but i didnt actually try it until about a year ago, because i was searching google, and i typed in: free, programming language, all ages, and scratch came up.  and i think theirs a thread already on this: How did you find scratch? or something like that...

I and Jonathanpb didn't know about Scratch until you told us... so thanks!

Edit: It was close, though. When we asked our Dad if we could use Scratch, he told us that he was considering introducing us anyway.

Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.
