Dear users and Scratch Team!
This toy^H^H^Heducational tool is simply great!
My 5yo daughter and I are going through the bundled animations, she comes up with ideas to make it interactive, and I do it for her.
I hear it is written in squeak? Is it open source? Can I extend it with new code blocks? Is the file format documented somewhere? How is the linux port coming along? (how can it be not cross-platform if written in squeak?)
Anyway, I'd like to thank everyone involved, both the development team for the tool, and all the contributors for the fun games and animations!
<forever>keep it up!</forever>

Thanks a lot for your comments. A lot of your questions are answered on the FAQ forums. But very quickly: the source code (yes, it's in Squeak) will be released in a few weeks/months. Then we'll set out guidelines for extending it. The file format is not documented yet (not enough time! :-(). Scratch works partially in Linux , someone posted instructions on how to run it by getting the Squeak VM and another person described how to run it with Wine. Some features don't work on Linux yet, that's why there is no official release for Linux. Plus, packaging for Linux is also another thing we would need to do.
