Scratch 2.4 - The Distant Future

I've seen some scratch predictions topics, but none have been like this!

I have figured that a new version of scratch comes out about every 5-7 months. So... That would mean we should be on 2.4 in Ten Years or so. Yikes! What do you think scratch will be like in 10 years? Post your thoughts and predictions here.

Re: Scratch 2.4 - The Distant Future

That's not too old for Scratch... But who knows? Maybe Scratch will lose popularity and "die"... Probably not though.

Anyway, I don't mean me at the activity level I am at now, posting projects at least twice a day and posting on the forums regularly, probably checking me messages once a week...

And you're only 11?!?!?

I guess that proves that you don't have to be older to be good at Scratch...  big_smile

Yes! I'm 11. I don't think scratch will "die" infact, I think it will live for many more than 10 years. Its popularity is increasing, never going down at all.  lol

Re: Scratch 2.4 - The Distant Future

Scratch will probably add strange bits of hardware as "sensor boards". For instance, if you have a USB lamp, you can click it to make the in-game flashlight activate.

I don't know... you never know if there will be something better than Scratch in the future.

Re: Scratch 2.4 - The Distant Future

I'd be 21 in 10 years. I think Scratch would have over 2.5 million projects on the site, the program would take up over 800 MB, and there would be over 200 blocks.

Scratch probably won't have 200 blocks someday. Why? Because there's a limited amount of useful blocks. It isn't like they can keep making new blocks in each release.

Re: Scratch 2.4 - The Distant Future

Well, I think this would be like this:

1.4 <- now
1.4.1 <- fixed text bug
1.5 <- added show/hide lists
1.6 <- all hacking backdoors closed
1.7 <- added more text blocks
1.7.1 <- fixed bugs from 1.7
1.8 <- minor interface changes
1.9 <- speed increased, finished works on better Mesh
2.0 <- probably no changes
2.0.1 <- fixed Mesh bugs
2.0.2 <- fixed more Mesh bugs
2.1 <- major interface changes
2.2 <- added 2d arrays
2.2.1 <- fixed 2d arrays glitches
2.3 <- no real changes
2.4 <- added Camera sensor, implementation for major consoles and holo-screens (if it's 10 years, holo-screens would be normal).
