Teaching Scratch over Action Script

Hey, I'm teaching a few kids in middle school about creating simple games, but I'm more adept in Flash and Action Script than I am in Scratch. What are the benefits of Scratch over Action Script?

Re: Teaching Scratch over Action Script

Scratch is much easier than AS but it is very limited. You could probably get your class making simple games in the first class in scratch whereas in actionscript you would have to teach them all the commands first. It depends on what you want to achieve. If you want your students to get a simple understanding of how to program with fast and easy results go with scratch. If you want the students to  know how to write scripts and learn commands and use a much more powerful programming language, go with actionscript.
