Don't use caching for the newest projects page

Well, the newest projects section is now pretty much broken since it only updates about once every 10 minutes. Only 10% of new projects actually  pop up there. Either make it update every time or just remove it.

Re: Don't use caching for the newest projects page

i agree, it doesnt really serve a purpose except to make some lucky people get more popular projects because they get on the newest projects page for like 1 hour.

Re: Don't use caching for the newest projects page

I agree, it makes scratch seem more of a lottery system to get to the front page . . .

I've taken a long hiatus, but I still visit sometimes. Give me some time to answer any messages you post on my projects!

I think the newest projects part is a waste anyways.

Re: Don't use caching for the newest projects page

It is true that the Newest Project is a bit like a lottery but is that bad?  smile   In fact, that's in part why we removed the Surprise Projects section. Currently the cache is set to expire after 60 minutes, which now I'm thinking it might be too long. I have reduced it to 5 minutes. If the server gets overwhelmed I might make it last longer.  Scratch on!
