Scratch needs a way to for a scratch program to post high scores to a leader board. leader boards would be created on a per project basis and would be delete if a project gets deleted or the project owner clears them. The high score would be summitted along with the scratch user id of the player who got the score. This would require the addition of a new scratch block "Submit Score".
This feature would help add a competitive feel to many of the games that are created through scratch. I feel it would be a very positive addition to the scratch community.

Creating leader boards is not quite as simple as you might think.
For one thing, scratch programs can be downloaded and run without any internet connection---what are the blocks that communicate with the leaderboard supposed to do then?
No doubt the NetScratch team is working on this and other problems as they try to develop a version of scratch that allows multi-player games. I think it will take a while for them to get a working version, and I doubt that it will be as simple as the current scratch.
