Can you please add a private messaging system to scratch? I'm sick of the projects that are pretty much a message just to one person. Also, what if you want to tell someone something, but you don't want anyone else to see it? Plz share thoughts .

NOOOO! oh well, lol

The reason they don't have private messaging is because scratch is not supposed to have so much data being exchanged privately. Cyber-predators can't arrange a meeting in reality through a comment, but they can through a PM.

thats why you have emails, but still useful if you don't have one

This has been resolved already. Check out the sticky 'Suggestions that have been resolved already'. Number 6 in the list. Suggestions that have been resolved already

The people who use PMing to set up meetings ruined the whole thing. Maybe you could tell a person to do a multiplayer game with you (If online multiplayer is made, that is). Nearly EVERY other online community has PMing and we dont because of some idiots.

nearly every other community has a lot more crud, but scratch is dumb that way with their rules

A link's already been offered to a sticky... but this isn't resolved yet. Perhaps this will help:

6. Private Messaging
Cheddargirl suggested this, so I plonked a section here. It's occured a lot before, and I never noticed! *blush*
Anyway, I had a look around and it didn't take long to spot the answer:andresmh wrote:
No.
Because keeping things open and public allow for things to be transparent. Inappropriate behavior is easily spotted and the benefits of having private communication do not outweigh its disadvantages.
There are other places on the web that do a better job at private communication. So if you want to send secret messages to your fellow secret agents, use a different website.
And naturally, there was an arguement afterwards. Buddy_ca111 argued about it, and I'd place the post here if it were shorter and slightly less argumentive.
And then shadow_7283 stepped in and pointed out some stuff (ah, these arguments go on for a while)...shadow_7283 wrote:
I disagree with you Buddy_ca111. What I think Andresmh was trying to say is that Scratch is meant to be a learning enviornment. Anything worth saying on Scratch is something that should be able to be viewed by the public, that way they can contribute. Private messaging is not neccesairily bad, although sometimes people use it for negative purposes. It's just that what would you say on there? Something Scratch related? If it is Scratch related, than it won't matter that it is viewed on the Site.
Private messaging can be used for what you like, but I don't think Scratch really has a need for something that can be done through other websites and/or e-mail.Okay. And for your information, the argument went on even further, but there's no point in continuing.

I agree with you there. I've been wanting that one for months now because yes you can do it on Wikipedia but Scratch doesn't it is a bit disappointing. The only way you could ever do it is ask the Scratch Team for permission but that's highly doubtful.

I think this would be VERY usefull for scratch!
I found a suggestion on scratch suggestions saying that and I gave it 3 votes! ;D

Hey Zangoose2, you should see Chrischb's post. This has been suggested before and is not going to happen.
Also, this is a very old thread. (Almost two years old!) Try to avoid bumping extremely old threads unless you have a very good reason.
