Yes you can. Get a certain kind of card and you can do all sorts of stuff on it.

Bananas > Dsi.

Bananas have stayed the same all the way through. Dsi's are bad gimmicky attempts to boost sales, changing a couple of things but not thinking through what they were doing.
e.g. Lets put an SD slot instead of a GBA slot. OMG, now you cant use the Guitar Hero controller, so people who have Guitar Hero (Which is a lot seens as guitar hero is the best selling 3rd party game on DS) won't buy it.
