If you see an obvious spam message, like those recently posted by ann1985, it is better not to reply to them as replying makes it harder for the mods to remove them.

Instead, use the "report" link that can be found on each post.

Also, can you add that on certain threads, like the ones where people say they're leaving, saying something like "This is just to get attention" is not only a form of spam in itself, it is giving them the attention they want anyway. If you want to say goodbye to them, do so, but if not then dont even bother going in the thread.

I'm not sure. I think it's because you would also be spamming in a way by saying "don't spam," if you get what I mean.

yes, but that wouldn't really be doing anything to make it harder for them. In fact it help's them track down the spam faster

Because when they click "Delete all posts by this user" all the replies are left behind and would have to be removed manually, one by one.

Wheras if there are no replies, all of the offending spam posts from a user that posts nothing but commercial spam (or other messages that the Admins need to remove) can be deleted with a single click.

yeah, but for the posts which are topics, once they are deleted, the other posts are deleted too
use logic next time

oh and for people who respond to spam in other topics that arnt made by the spammer, it would just make them seem like crazy people, about which frankly I don't care
