Writing on a Blank CD-R

I'm trying to write on a blank CD-R (Put ALL my Scratch projects and Scratch) and my computer isn't seeing the CD. When I click CD Drive it says put a CD in. But when I put another disc that has data on it it sees it.

Re: Writing on a Blank CD-R

maybe it's write-protected
do you have a USB pen drive?
or just put the scratch files on the disc that works and put the stuff on the disc in your documents

Re: Writing on a Blank CD-R

Ok check for this: Click explore, right-click on the CD drive and then click properties. In the recording section make sure the check box enable cd recording is checked.

Re: Writing on a Blank CD-R

Have you written any other discs with this drive? It could be that the drive is older and can not write discs. If your drive can not write discs flash drives are a cheap and easy way to go.

Re: Writing on a Blank CD-R

I've never used it for writing, this is my first time adding something to a disc, maybe I'll just ask my dad. But my comp can see CDs that do have stuff on it and I bet I could add stuff to those CDs.

Re: Writing on a Blank CD-R

It is probably an older disc drive; one that can play discs, but can not burn discs.

Re: Writing on a Blank CD-R

Well if it doesn't work you could try to get a flash drive They are pretty cheap and can hold quite a few files.

Re: Writing on a Blank CD-R

Well, you might be right, it can't write. But thanks for your help, I'll ask my Dad to get another drive from another computer that doesn't work. (We have 6 or more computers set up, 1 at least that I no of that won't start up, so I could use that drive.)
