Mmmm...
I'm currently playing a spinoff. (Chocobo's Dungeon)
But when I was younger, I used to watch my brother play Final Fantasy VIII. Brings back memories, especially the music...

to me, FFX was the best game in the series
FFX-2, I never played it
FFX is the only game I know of that I can do the whole story mode 5 times without getting bored

I could never play through it once without getting bored. I find that Final Fantasy puts too much of its energy into a storyline which ends up coming out far too overemotional, and it lacks in actual gameplay.
For instance, take the M&L series. The storylines are just plain random at times, but the battle system was worked on more and is more fun to play imo.
So, I'd like to hear from the fans here what they find so appealing about FF. I posted respectfully so dont send something back like "OMG get out of this thread if you dont like it".
btw, don't say for the storyline, because thats what books are for

I say the storyline and well, everything. It is a good series, it does get annoying with the random encounters, but the stories are just beautiful.
And tell me, which one(s) have you played?

So, are you the kind of person who says 'gore makes the game'?
Not to offend, of course.
I'm into some Final Fantasy's for the story, yes, but I'm also completely satisfied with the RPG gameplay as well. Music is also epic, by the way.
This being said, I am also a huge Zelda fan, so half my opinion is null and void to some people.

@Keroro: I've tried the Final Fantasies on DS, a couple of them on PS2 and the Wii. I cant remember their names, and I didnt even play on them for very long, because the cutscenes bored me.
@Half-Wolf Leader: I do play gory games, but I don't like them any more than any other game. I like platformers like Mario etc. where you can get straight into playing the game. I just dislike the fact of the size of cutscenes etc.
The RPG gameplay is ok imo, but they should have spent more time on it than with all the cutscenes. It's the same thing which happened with SSBB, SSBM's core gameplay was better because it spent more time on the game engine than adding all the flashy modes etc.
And there's nothing wrong with LOZ, I like it too

Your just not the Final Fantasy type.
Get out. Get OUT! NOW! Before I rip your face off and sit on it!
Haha, jk. No I'm serious. Get out!
Hahaha, jk again.
I don't think there are Final Fantasy's on the PS3, are there?

Final Fantasy X-2. I think. My cousin has that one. That one is the sequel to Final
Fantasy X. I've played X though. That one didn't appeal to me as much as the others.
If you want a Final Fantasy with good gameplay. Try out that Dissidia when it comes out. I think the Final Fantasy's on the PSP are the best to me.

I added the gore thing just to make sure. I find people who say that ignorant and violent.
I happen to love cutscenes, especially Zelda cutscenes (because you can enjoy the music during them.), as long as there is no extremely poor voice actor or cheesy voice acting. (something Zelda lacks, since there are no voice actors)
SSBB was also great. I didn't like that it had a story to it, but whatever.
TEA SHIEK YES.
And about the Zelda thing, some people hate Zelda fans and ignore them. Or bash.
Whatever, cutscenes are awesome.

FF 13 is for ps3 and it's in developement
seems the PlayStation 3 will be receiving the first FFXIII demo in the form of a bonus on the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete Blu-ray disc
Currently Advent Children Complete is scheduled for release in Japan in March of 2009 -- a U.S. release has not yet been confirmed. Since it's a Blu-ray disc, the PS3 will be the only way to play the demo.

Half Wolf Leader, I like SSBB too, just check how many posts ive made in the Talk About SSBB thread.
What I meant, was Melee's core gameplay was a lot better, because it didnt waste time adding stuff like Masterpieces etc.
