increase work area

Hi friends.

any posibility to increase the work area on scratch?

My project needs a bigger area but the default size is not enough.

Thanks a lot.

Re: increase work area

The script area or the stage area?

If you have 1.4, you can go into small screen mode by clicking the "small stage" button in the top right corner. It is the farthest left of the three buttons.

Re: increase work area

Even if you don't have 1.4:

1. Make your screen resolution use as big numbers as possible.

for me:

1024 x 768 = not enough room
1440 x 900 = awesome

2.  Widescreen monitors will have much more room for scripting, if the scratch window is maximinzed.

3. Like I said in #2, always keep the scratch window maximized.

Seriously, I recommend a widescreen monitor.

Now, with 1.4, heres how much space I can get:

Re: increase work area

Thanks friends for your replay.

These tips are good but I want to overcome the [-240 240] and [-180 180] stage size  limit .... any suggestion?

Thanks.

Re: increase work area

Yes, it's possible. But not without hacking.
Here's how, but be careful:
In 1.3, paste

Code:

    WorkPaneExtentX _ 500.
    WorkPaneExtentY _ 500.

into a workspace, selecting it and pressing ALT+D should do it. Now just open a new scratch window (from the open menu) and you will see the new dimensions. Change the two 500's to what you like. They are in pixels, and the first one is the X height, the second one is the Y.

For all non-1.3 versions, triple-middle-click on the stage, and drag the yellow circle below to change the size. Then, single-middle-click it and drag the yellow circle again. The stage is now resized.

For the above to work, you'll need to type Preferences enableProgrammerFacilities and then highlight it, and press ALD+D. Also, use alt+click if you do not have a middle button.

Re: increase work area

Note that for the 1.3 method, the paint editor adjusts, too. It just becomes a bit muddled if you adjust the size too much. The other method does not adjust the paint editor. Also, in 1.4, be careful about the mini size of the stage. In some dimensions, it works fine. In others, it shows a black bar on one edge, and others cause a primitive to fail.

Re: increase work area

Sorry I'm using 1.4 but It's not clear WHERE write "Preferences enableProgrammerFacilities" ... I tried writing it on ASK/SAY, highlight it and pressing ALT-D but nothing happends.

Any suggestion?
