I'm currently developing a new text-based adventure game called THE LEGEND OF THE APACHE GOLD (for Windows) and I am in desperate need of beta testers.

a typical text-based adventure game, the kind that was popular in the 80s - however, in a new coat. Pretty pictures, about 50 different locations, intelligent text input algorithm...

In the final version there will be audio, too. All the words will be read out loud by a native Texan. That will take some time, tho. I need to get as much feedback as possible to enable as much intelligent response of the computer as possible.

I'm not really advertising... I don't sell anything. This game as well my previous ones are freely available. I make text-based games for fun, have been doing so since I was 14.

Today I was looking for any forums about text-based games and this one is pretty much the only live forum I found.

I had no idea about sections... the topic of the forum is TEXT-BASED games, which was exactly what I was looking for.

also, i think you should make it browser based.
text rpg games arent really supposed to be so big that they need to be downloaded, especially one thats just starting

Browser-based - yes, that would be better, I guess. I'd have to get a better programmer to do it for me... I don't know how. :-(

I program in MS Visual Basic.

The thing is - I made my first text-based games on a Commodore 64 - an 8bit computer from the last century. ANd I only used BASIC. Then, when I got my first PC with DOS, I kept making games in Quick BASIC. Now I'm too old to learn new tricks... so I keep using BASIC. Visual Basic is okay I guess, you can make nice looking applications with very little effort.

I see. I don't think it could be easily transferred to a browser form. It would need to be programmed from scratch, I'm afraid.
