Merlin needs to make a love potion for King Arthur. He needs 4 fl oz of oil.
To measure the 4 fl oz, he has only two jars, one measuring 5 fl oz, the other measuring 3 fl oz.
How can you measure 4 fl oz?

Fill 5 then pour into 3 fill 5 pour what you can into 3 there you have it 4 fl oz

I think you pour 3 into five, dump another 3 into 5 (until it fills up) so the 3 fl oz one has 1 fl oz in it. You dump out the 5 fl oz jar, and pour the 1 fl oz (in the 3 oz jar) into the 5 fl oz jar. Then you refill the 3 fl oz jar and pour it into the 5 fl oz jar which already has 1 fl oz in it, making 4 fl oz of whatever. Pee?

Fill 5, pour into 3 until 3 is full, leaving 2oz.
Empty 3. Transfer the 2oz into 3.
Fill 5, pour into 3 until 3 is full, which leaves is 4oz.
Alternatively buy Merlin a metric jug with a scale.
Fluid ounces? In this day and age?

It should be litres but I'm guessing this guy copied the question off some old riddle site or something close.
[Is the spelling liters or litres?]
