Yeah...

True, but it's hard to get the color you want. AND you will never get the exact same color twice. I'm keeping 1.3 unless that is changed and importing sprites into 1.4. > sad  PUT THE PALETTE BACK!!!
(or you just got rid of my best paint editor. I know your crazy thoughts when you read that.)

Seriously, I don't see what such the big deal is about. Personally, I prefer 1.4's.
To get the colour you want, just use the eyedropper tool. As long as you've used the colour in your sprite, it works just fine. If you haven't used it, I don't see why you'd need the exact colour.

Nothing to worry about, it just has a little less colors in the default palette, click the icon on the left and there you go.

So MyRedNeptune likes the mockup  tongue

The problem is, people who try for detail won't have a great variety of shades to choose from. Sure, there's the small rectangle on the left, but you can't get the same color twice... as everyone has pointed out.

Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Re: SCRATCH 1.4 paint editor / pallet. 1.3's was better

When you click the gradient icon a huge (ok, almost huge) color picker opens, which allows for so much more shade. People going for detail won't be using 49 basic colors from 1.3 when you have the ability to choose from millions, would they? And once you have used one of the millions of colors into your sprite, you *can* use it twice! Just use the eyedropper tool. That's why it exists...

Really, no big deal. You really shouldn't stick to 1.3 because of some (sorry) fictive reason when there are so many new features waiting for you...

But ok, when you re-arrange the elements in the 1.4 paint editor, there is plenty of room for a full palette, so if that satisfies everyone  tongue

That is true but, as I said, you can use the eyedropper tool to pick the same color twice, even your original color is outside the paint editor. Just keep your mouse pressed and drag the eyedropper out of the paint editor window.

Instead of having more colors in the default palette, I would like some kind of more advanced color picker, like the one from paint.NET: r, g, b, h, s, v ,... It should appear when you click some button.

I made a mockup, what do you think?

Yes there is full transparency, it would be so coool.... But when there will not be any transparency (most likely) the two last rows of the color grid and the last slider of course disappear.

But uhm... This isn't really an advanced topic. You won't be able to change the color palette in 1.4 anymore, so I am moving thos to Suggestions for future versions of Scratch  tongue

Re: SCRATCH 1.4 paint editor / pallet. 1.3's was better

Two things: 1

1: in the final 1.4, they have all of the colour things back. I really don't care. I don't use those anyway.

2: As many people have said, the reason the eyedropper tool exists is that you can get the same colour twice.

3. You can get so many more colours to choose from using the spectrum. I'd be happy if they got rid of the square things.

4. JSO if that mockup was the paint editor, I would probably cry because I'd be so happy.
