I would like to suggest building more costumes/backgrounds viewed from above into Scratch. It's easier to teach directions or make simple games with top viewed sprites. For example I miss a little car, a ship, a bug etc. viewed from above.

Simple objects may be easy to make in the Scratch editor, but for those of us who can't draw with a pencil, a mouse-based editor is impossible for drawing. I've found it much easier to make new sprites by taking a picture with a digital camera, then scaling, cleaning up, and editing in Photoshop Elements.
To take an image from paper (such as a drawing), I use a scanner instead of a digital camera.
The kids in my Tech Club class really enjoy making over existing images, though, so the editor seems to be good for the target users.

Perhaps I can help you. Do you want me to draw the sprites?
