It would probably be a better idea to wait until we're done brainstorming, then we can implement it into the whole program. Basically, I'll do most of the programming once I have good sprites.

I guess so. Still, I can finish up my work and then post it online for you to use if you want it.

I finished the save app! http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/SmartIrishKid/557410
For the sprites, do we want to use the semi-3D ones like in that project, or find/make some different ones?

The problem with your save app is that is only saves the variables in your RAM. This means that your stats are gone every time you restart the program.
It may actually be possible to have a saving feature by connecting to another computer. The host computer would save all data then give it to you when you enter a password.

Well, you can save the project if you want a "permanent" save. You could also export the list and import it later.

In my opinion, I think we should stick to 2D "comical" sprites, because if we mix and match the two (which we might have to do since there are not a lot of 3D sprites) it would look unprofessional.
Maybe...but the website I got it from also had several other sprites. We can use those.

I could program a the main menu and work on the tutorial. I can make random objects in the world like jars, chests, potions, and other items.
I think we should stick with 2d graphics. Also, if you have ever played any of the games like the Simpsons arcade game and the Dungeons and Dragons arcade game, I would like to do that style. The characters and items would be 2d but they could also move up and down with out looking 3d or looking like they're going Up or down. The sprites would just flip left/right. Also, what would we use for jumping if we did this style? Up arrow would move you character towards the back... But the 2.5d graphics work.

I don't know...
I think we should make a group that would work on this and other projects. I could make a site for this or our group too.

I would still like to work on this project, but I couldn't work in a group. I'm already part of one called Mega Games, and I don't think I should join another without my fellow members' approval.

keikij, could I make the website? I've always wanted to make a site.

We could both do it! We could make a Google Sites site. I need all of our E-Mails so I can invite us all to work on it.

Sorry to disappoint you both, but I've already made a forum on PunBB. You can be moderators if you want, but I'll need to do some maintenance work before I set it up.
EDIT: I just realized, this is post #1337. L0L.

Fine by me!
I also made a test for the main menu!

Say, I just remembered a game I got stuck on, and it was where the characters only faced left and right, but they could move up and down as well. Make the game an action RPG, that'd be awesome. Oh, could I work on the battling?

I'm done with the status bars! There pretty flexible really, so if you want to change something about the way they work, just ask me. I'm posting the link right here: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/shadow_7283/559202

Hmmm...On the other hand, I'm going to delete the forums. They require you to give out too much information.
Let's just use this topic for now.

Yeah, I'd like to make our game that style!

I think it would be AWESOME if we did that, but make it Super Paper Mario style! If you're not familiar with the game, I have an explanation below here.
In Super Paper Mario, because of some weird spell or curse (I think), you have the ability to switch between "2D" and "3D" worlds. In the 2D worlds, it is basic side scrolling, but in the 3D worlds, the objects increase in size as you walk further.
2D: 3D: / ^ \

Even better! But the character remains 2D, you forgot to mention that. I'm goig to improve the menu,
Singleplayer
New Game
Load Game
Multiplayer
Local
Co-Op
Versus
Online
Co-Op
Versus
Extras
Concept Art
Cutscenes
Music
Credits
Bonus Codes!*
*Bonus codes are 4 didgit codes that you can enter to get an extra item, a cheat code, or something else like that.
I think that the first game mode that we make is local versus mode because XP isn't needed, we will only need premade characters (Shade, Palandir, Mazi, Furoe, Caldis, etc.) and we won't need to program enemy AI. It will simply be 2 players playing against each other. In the full game, you should be able to use your character in versus mode.

It sounds to me like the different playing modes are going to be very different, so it might take awhile to finish them. Lets start with the basics.

If we did that many playing modes, it would be twice as hard to create as archmage's SSBS. And he had to revise that so it didn't crash Scratch.
Scratch 1.4 beta is out, but they're not including the multiplayer features after all. So we can ditch the multiplayer idea, I guess...

ONLINE multiplayer. I still think we should include regular multiplayer.
So . . . where are we going to start? I think we've figured out the basics for the game play, so now, I suggest we make a little demo that will demonstrate the way the character will move, including the 2D and 3D worlds, and things like that.

I'm working on it in 1.4.
