If someone has put a lot of effort into a project and it isn't very popular, I would curate it as well.

I think I'll be good at it because I have a good idea what most young people will enjoy and understand. I'd choose projects that are mostly made up of scripts like this:

when gf clicked
go to x: (0) y:(0)
forever
 turn cw (2) degrees
 move (10) steps
change [color v] effect by (1)
end
Not this:

when gf clicked
go to x: (0) y: (0)
forever
 stamp
change y by ([sin v] of ([cos v] of ([tan v] of (pick random (0) to (99)))))
change x by ([sin v] of ([cos v] of ([tan v] of (pick random (0) to (99)))))
 clear
end
For example, My Fix it Felix project fits my requirements (although of course I won't curate my own projects).

I would curate any type of simple project, as long as it's suitable.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,
-Newnewfew.

Complex ones deserve to be curated much more than simple ones

Not at all, each project deserves to be curated the same amount as other projects, unless it is inappropriate, mean, etc. Although curating famous peoples project isn't a good idea, as they already get as much views. Curating not very well known scratch-ers projects that are fun, good, etc. are some of the best projects to try curating.

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

I would love to be curator because I want projects out there that are unique and good quality to be recognized. I really like animations, art games, and platformers. I won't pick any games with blood, violence, harsh language, or context against another scratcher. I also won't pick any projects from "Famous People" like Astro, minecraftpe123, or iaoumeur. I will not pick projects that have many views or that are from my friends. I would easily curate projects that are unique, Haven't gotten enough attention, or that are good quality in general. That means I won't pick something like Vector or Minecraft 3D. I will curate projects like this  http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ComputerNinja/3211957  (simple animations)  or this, http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ctc397/3197808  Funny game, also, a cool, simple game, http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/vienna7363/3204688 just like the real one!  I will do an occasional remix, ,so long as it is credited, because everything is really a remix! We get Ideas from each other.! I want to be curator because I want people to feel appreciated and feel like they have done well. I am active and helpful on the scratch website, so please pick me as curator!

I think it would be really cool if I got chosen as a curator. Um... I really do like to try to help people who are truly amazing artists/programers become more popular and well known. So basicly what I look for is unpopualr projects that are perfect and as close as they can get to glitch free.

Pease pick me  smile

This following post isnt what lightnin said in his rules: but you have created an account today, which would be WAY to new to be a curator. You haven't had any experience with scratch at all. You should wait at least a month before you should become a curator. Also, i have had lots of experience with scratch, i asked to be a curator, and they said nothing. Almost all of the curators we have had in the past weren't 20 seconds new to scratch.  hmm

I have always dreamed of becoming a curator, so I select good, unknown projects for good things. I am mostly unknown, so this will help me and other scratchers. This would be a great chance for me, so thank you very much, I appreciate it if you would make me curator

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

Being a curator, I can recognize as being hard. I've always wanted to be a leader...to help make every community a better place. Scratch is a GREAT community, with awesome Scratchers. Still, I think it could be better. I have not been on Scratch for long, and I can see how I might not get picked for curator. That's alright. I would like to make more games, advertisements for the unpopular Scratchers'. I'm trying to create contests. My contests won't have love-it rewards though. I try to love every project I visit. Scratch is one of my favorite things in the world to do! I like drawing all of the sprites. It could be better, and hopefully someday a great curator will come and fulfill that dream.

Thank you's from SmileyFace72  big_smile !

I wold like to be a Curator if I could i think that popularity has caused many a scratchier to loos the drive to scratch because there projects never get viewed. I believe that if I was Curator I cold help the less viewed but good projects get to the front page more often.

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

I waould like to be curator.

Every day I see tons of great projects, and I see what the views counter says, with a great disappointment:

I like seeing new things on scratch, and I bet new scratchers would, too. What I would curate would be not what I like, but what we as a community would like.

I am mostly looking for two things:

Games: Especially platformers. But just about any game will do.

EXAMPLE

Simulations: Simulations of something that is hard to achieve on scratch. An example is 3D, but the list goes on.

EXAMPLE

RULES:
Can be submitted if:
Shows an innovative use of Scratch.
Promotes collaboration and remixing.
Can be simple or complex.
Projects that inspire other scracthers.
Projects for everyone.

A project WILL NOT be curated if:
It was on the homepage (excluding newest projects)
The creator of the project was popular in the last month.
Uses media (music, images, etc) from a commercial entity (Nintendo, Sega, MTV, Disney, Warner Brothers, etc)
The creator of the project has been inactive on the website for more than 6 months (may tweak this one a bit)

And that's my reason why I want to be curator! Sorry for bad english  tongue

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

Hello Scratch Team!
I would LOVE to be a curator. There are so many unnoticed good projects out there....
I want to brighten their day by introducing their project to the front page.
When my project (Terminator Facility) got curated (by donahue33) I was in seventh heaven! Even my parents were quite impressed. In fact, my dad was so impressed that he told all of his friends about my project! I want the same thing to happen to every other Scratcher in the Universe. This is why I want to be a curator.

I would curate:
Educational projects
Games
Animations
"not famous" projects
Projects which have a lot of work put in them, (doesn't have to be complicated.)
Projects which are good for all ages
and lots more!
Please give me a chance at this!

You will never get the job that way. Try something like this.

I would like to apply for curator because I believe it would be a great opportunity for me and the Scratch Community. I have been helping people with scripts in the forums, and I have been posting constructive criticism on other people's projects to make sure they get the benefit of my help for their project-whatever the project it may be. Games, animations, stories, educational slide shows, and more! I'm not too picky when it comes to curating, and I want to give unknown Scratchers with a talented ability a chance to have a spot in the limelight.
I also think curating is important, and that the unknown Scratchers benefit from their project being curated, and greatly enjoy it. I know I did when I was curated! Anyway, without the curated section, Scratchers with great abilities who are unknown, would be very sad without the curator.
Some examples of projects I would curate are shown below. Some are well-known,and some are older, but I would show less known projects to the public, that are fresh from the community.

Games:

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/kittyflier/3000357 I chose this project because of how much effort went into it, and the hard work really shows. The game is enjoyable and fun to play, and the Scratch community would enjoy it.

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/richjones69/3108799 I chose this project as an example because the game is next to glitch-free, and is a good example of hard work and effort, though the Scratcher is well known.

Animations:

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/GriaMolar/3116632 This project has great timing and hard work put into it

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/MrPikachu/3145684 This animation is very smooth and has a lot of effort into it. It is well known though.

Interactive Projects:

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/zevbo/3033423 This project went unnoticed by the Community, and I have no idea why. It's form is perfect in its own way, and no one has seen it.
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/SFollis/3014118 This project is simple but fun to play with, because of it's ingenuity.

P.S.-Thanks to pokemongardevoir, because I went off of her speech, and made  mine!

P.P.S- Even though some of those Scratcher's are my friends, that is not why I picked those projects. I did because I thought they were great examples of the projects I would curate.

P.P.P.S.-Please consider me. I put a lot of time and effort into thinking up this speech, and I want to benefit the Scratch Community.  big_smile

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

WHY I CURATE?
•projects I find unique, that stand out and have something distinct from other projects
•fun games or funny animations, just regular projects that are really good
•any project that is maybe not exceptionally good but deserves a front page and has little views
-TIP: I will set requirements for these. Because I obviously don't want to curate projects with a lot of views or love-its, and you can save time by doing this,i would set requirements like: under 50 views or user cannot have been on the front page in the past 3 months or something like that. This way, i won't have to go through all the projects and check, they'll check themselves.
•NOT anything by my friends just because my friends (although if it's just a regular project that deserves to be curated, I will go ahead)
•PREFERABLY NOT anything that is by someone who has been on the front page (recently?)
•NOT anything that has been on the front page already
•PREFERABLY NOT anything by a famous person, even if they haven't been on the front page recently
•NOT anything by someone who's trying to bribe you or something (but I don't know who would do that)
