Kind of bugged.... I wrote an entine paragraph application and all I get is some guy telling me some of my stuff was pointless to put in it, and people who have written ONE SENTENCE get replies. It's not fair.

The one person who said some stuff was pointless to put in was just helping you... plus, he even encouraged you saying "I think you would be a good curator." Don't feel bad that you weren't replied to. That doesn't necessarily mean you won't get chosen.

If I were curator, the first thing I'd do is look at the "propose projects to be featured" thread to see what people want to be featured, and search around scratch, and basically I'd try to find projects of people that don't get much attention. Just wanted to let you know!

That's actually a really good idea! that way, even if the projects don't get featured, they still will get noticed. Nice thinking .

Can I be Curater?
You might want to give a little background information about what kind of projects you would pick if you become curator. Otherwise, they won't really pick you...

every once in a while I'm just browsing random projects. Then I come to a game with less than 50 views some of these games are really cool but nobody really found out about them. I would like these projects to be on the front page so more people can see them.

I would love to be a curator (foor the fourth time) becasue I would feature projects of different languages, I would feature my favorites, and some non famous projects. I would also pick projects of different genres.... If you would consider me I would appreciate it~

You know, I am not really liking what the current curator, "forest" is choosing (no offense intended). Almost all the projects already get enough recognition, and now they are getting more. I can only find one reason for this:
To show the new scratchers what the old projects were like and possibly give them ideas.
While this is a good reason, the projects were already popular and now they are getting more and more popular? Won't that put a bit of stress on the creators of the project? For example, Paddle2See's projects, "Feather Paint" was on frontpage before. It had roughly 600 views. Then, when forest chose it, it gained more and more recognition. Those people already have fame, is it really right to give them more? Why not give other scratchers a chance at the spotlight, instead of having the same people who we all are very familiar of?

Yeah, I see what you mean. Like if the curtator chooses somthing that Maki-Tak made, (No offence, Maki, your projects are great,) Maki generally has one or two projects on the front page. So why give Maki more and more fame? (Like I said, no offence, your projects are great, Maki,)

I FINALY caught the front page cheating!!!! No one person is supposed to be on the front page in two places >:3 I CAUGHT YOU FRONT PAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, and I have actually had a project in both of those catagories at the same time. I didn't know they put a limitation on it though.

You probably had it before the filter was created.
I think we should get back on topic now.

The real problem with the curator position is that the user's FAVORITES are selected, and if they keep adding favorites, those projects added to their favorites list last get noticed. Why not have whatever 3 projects the user chose originally be featured in the curator section? What I mean is, say someone get's picked as curator. Make them pick 3 projects they think SHOULD be noticed as soon as they are curator, and those projects STAY as "projects selected by ____________". That should answer Timefreeze's concern.
If you need me to clarify, I'd be happy to do so.

i think its a great idea, like how they find a most loved, most viewed, most remixed, now they have a column chosen by a member. Kinda like by kids for kids. Actually, exactly like by kids for kids.

Ah, I think we should clarify how some of these technical aspects of being curator work to help answer this question. Each time we choose a new curator we send them some additional information about the role. Here's an excerpt:
Only your three most recent favorites will be displayed on the Scratch Homepage. If you want to show a project that is already in your favorites but not in the top three, you must remove it from your favorites collection and then re-add it. To do this go to your my stuff page, select the project and click 'remove selected favorites'. Then go to the project page and add it to your favorites again. It will now be your most recently favorited project.
So it is possible to show projects that were favorited a long time ago. One just has to un-favorite them and then re-favorite them. Hope this clarifies things!
