We are using scratch on a suite of 30 Windows 2000 pc's in a secondary school.
24 of the machines work ok but the other 6 machines produce the following windows error when scratch is run-
Scratch.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.
These 6 machines originaly came from a different suite so will have slightly different configs (although Win2000 GPO's are the same). We have managed to figure out that there seems to be some kind of conflict with a piece of remote control and monitoring software called Impero. This runs as a service on the workstations and we have found that if you log on as admin and kill the Impero service then scratch will start as normal. If the Impero service is then restarted both will continue to work ok. Obviously the pupils can't do this sort of thing to get scratch running.
Impero and Scratch are installed on all 30 machines but we don't understand why the issue only affects 6 of the computers. I'm trying to contact the Impero people to see if they have any ideas.
Any clues?

wow, that is the first time I hear of this problem and of Imperio. Sorry we are not able to give you more info but you find a way to solve this please post it here in case someone else is using that Imperio software.
Could you just uninstall Imperio or are you using it for something?
