Better artwork online?

I've noticed that online, resized sprites are made smoother. Anyone know why? anything to do with compression? But wouldnt that make it chunkier and less colorful??? Look at doodle castle defender from JUSTJAMES if you want an example. One of those big guys ends up getting smoothed out. Will this be the future of nice-looking online graphics? I don't think so! But it's still a pretty interesting and confusing topic  hmm

Re: Better artwork online?

It has nothing to do with compression, it's because Java supports antialiasing and Scratch (or should I say Squeak) doesn't.

Re: Better artwork online?

So it's just because of the java player. Ok, thanks.
