Cool! I wonder, could you make a list of things you like in Flash more than Scratch and vice versa? Also, what do you are there things in Newgrounds that you like more than the Scratch website that you think we should change?
Thanks!

Well many of the things that flash has over scratch have already been mentioned as things scratch needs to have. Things like being able to put objects past the stage and it can duplicate sprites with code and pretty much everything else that has been requested. Some other neat features of flash are you can export animations as animated gifs, Auto smoothing for the pen tool, special filters, shape tweens, keyframes, ability to put sprites within sprites, auto outline tool, more fonts, and touching at _x _y hit tests .
Things that I like in newgrounds are the games and cartoons directories that let you find stuff easily, ability to list co-authors when submitting a flash, pictures in your forum signuture, and a place on peoples' profile where they can put news about themselves, projects ect.

You're right. I should have focused more on the differences between the Scratch website and newground. Flash features have already been covered on the Suggestions forum.
Are the directories in newgrounds created and managed by the administrators or by users?

They are controlled by the admins but users can recommend flashes be added to a specific directory.

Nice. I am "thinking out loud", but what would do you think about the Scratch website hosting Flash projects as well?

Nope---there is already to much stuff on the Scratch web site. Keep it focused on scratch.

Well flash is kinda unrelated to scratch and don't really think it would be worth your time to create a hosting script or the server space. Just uploading to a hosting site and posting them here works fine for me.

I completely agree. Another nice thing (and I know this has been mentioned before) is the averaged 1-5 rating system so that there is a very clear, concise way for projects to be evaluated by others (although I am aware that this may be discouraging to some beginners). As for the organization of toons and games, something like that on Scratch would be great, and could perhaps be implemented by adding a box when uploading a project that asks the user what type their project is (game or toon).

The 1-5 rating system on newgrounds is there mainly to prevent low quality flashes from waisting space on their server which is not an issue with scratch. Scratch meant to be a place where beginning coders can learn to make fun and creative things to share with the world.

How is this different from using tags. You can even put the tags in the share dialog window in Scratch.

MahoAshley, perhaps the reason that no one is commenting on your Flash games is that this is the scratch web forum. You need to find a Flash web forum to discuss flash games.

Unfortunately that's easier said than done - especially at a level suitable for the Scratch target audience who wants to "move up" to Flash. Most of the Flash forums I've looked at tend to be oriented to advanced users and professionals - that's a big step to take up from Scratch.
One possibility, if someone has the time, would be to start a new "Scratch User" section on
http://board.flashkit.com/board/index.php . They seem to be pretty good about hosting single focus threads.
If anyone else has some suggestions, please post them here. If there is a good site out there, I'd be very interested - just don't have the time to host one mysef.

Flash is WAY better than scratch for animation, but if you want to be able to code up stuff easily without having to memorize actionscript scratch is the way to go.

My comment referred to the fact that users at many Flash sites (at least the ones I tend to visit) spend their time discussing business aspects of their projects about as much as they do technical issues. (While I find this interesting, and MahoAshley and others may also, I suspect this is a bit outside the area of interest of a typical Scratch user.)
I could well be missing a more suitable Flash forum, however. Suggestions are very welcome.

The newgrounds flash forum users are mainly focused on creating games and videos and stuff, basically the kind of stuff you would see on newgrounds.
The people there are flash pros and will tell you any thing you need to know about flash.
