Any thoughts about creating a link between a Wii controller and Scratch. I know the bluetooth stack drivers and an open source API is out there... Now if I only had the source code.
Seriously, This would be a really cool addition to Scratch. Imagine playing with the accelerometers!

You can't make scratch play on wii. Wii can play flash files, scratch runs in java.

The Scrach board is bacily a Wii for Sratch. Go to https://scratch.media.mit.edu/pages/scratchboard-purchase to get one.

Actually, I was not interested in scratch running on the Wii, I was just interested in using Wii controllers to control scratch games and animations. Kind of like the scratch board, but the interface between the Will controller and Scratch is Bluetooth wireless and not a cable.
Here is a link where a guy measured the acceleration of his car using a Wii remote...

The computer that is running scratch would have to have bluetooth capabilities.

That would be cool but if you wanted to look at scratch projects on the Internet Channel I not sure the Wii has the right version of flash player or something.

here's how you interface wii controllers with Scratch. I recently held a workshop in LA about this. if you are on a mac, download remote buddy
http://www.iospirit.com/index.php?mode=view&obj_type=infogroup&obj_id=24&o_infogroup_objcode=infogroup-23&sid=4425489G3d8a02a0301a8de4
it allows you to directly bind the keys of the wii controller to any key on the keyboard and if you have the sensor bar activated ontop of the display, allows you to bind ONE of the controllers to the mouse. (BTW, the new interface to remote buddy is really a annoying to use. you have to basically create a custom action in the action factory, and then make a new catagory package, compile and install it, and then it will show up allowing you to bind to specific keys. but remote buddy is the most reliable app)
if you are on a PC GlovePIE is the most versatile
http://carl.kenner.googlepages.com/glovepie
but hard to use
WiinRemote works
http://onakasuita.org/wii/index.html
but no mouse interface, just buttom mapping, but allows you to grab accelerometer readings

scratchboards are small electronic kits that you plug into your USB port to get real-world inputs to scratch (no outputs, unfortunately). More information at

If you can do it, cool! I own a wii!

Note: there are two different topics in this thread:
1) making the wiimote controller work with a PC or Mac to provide input to Scratch.
2) making scratch games run on a wii
I don't really know, but I get the impression that Jay Silver is working on (1) not (2).

He do not want to play scratch files on a Wii he wants to use a Wii controller to do things with a scratch project on the computor

So, your saying that you can use the wiimote to use as a mouse? And the buttens are keys on the keyboard?

At the moment, the wiimote cannot be used with Scratch. Someone is working on the idea, but it may not turn out to be usable or desirable to add to Scratch officially.

Wait, if you can bind a butten on the wiimote to a key on the keyboard, can't you just bind A to Space and put out the "If [space] pressed block"?

Ah, but can you bind a button on the wiimote to a key on the keyboard?
