Shade runs out of the room and returns scroll and reads off it, "Kaforn tun, flynt(just random jibberish I made up.)" I'm not good with names for places!*, the fabled *Or names for magical objects!*."
All the "Wizardish" names I used are actually Elvish. Palandir means Man of Distance, Caldis means Light-maiden. So...if it's a dangerous place, how about Guriand? And we're looking for a fabled...what is it?
...And if you wanted to make the words you said actually have some sense, I would recommend Annon ni-Nguriand! "A door to Guriand!"

"I'll stay here and try to get that ring from him! You go find your fabled...whatever-it-is."
He shoves Shade into the portal, which then disappears. Now to get the ring...

Chapter 3: the quest
Palandir runs down the hall, attempting to keep the invisibility spell on him while he prepares a gigantic elemental AND light spell. This will take most of his power, but it is worth it if he is to succeed.
He then remembers that he is to be given his first staff by the Light teacher. It is only a basic staff, but it will help...
With his new staff in hand, Palandir races to the headmaster's room, still invisible.

Shade stands in a forest, the trees are burnt and the sky is black with a charred smell in the air. "No, he's been here too... The headmaster..." Shade is struck to the ground and looks up to see The Headmaster. "Wait, but you were at the-" Shade thrown at a nearby tree and he falls to the ground winded. Meanwhile, the Alchemy teacher has blocked Palandir's path and threw a orb at Palandir. It causes a giant flash of light leaving Palandir unconcious.

...Or so Shade thought. All he is seeing is what the headmaster wants him to think. In reality, Palandir has countered the blow with his staff (now he's glad he remembered it!) and knocked out the Alchemy teacher.
(oh and by the way it's hard for light to hurt a light magician anyway)
Realizing the power addition that this staff gives, he channels his spell into it. Now he doesn't have to worry about two spells at once. He continues improving the spell as he runs along.

Having reached the headmaster's office, he looks around. He wonders where the headmaster is. Little does he know that he is currently throwing Shade at a tree. He picks up the envelope, which is actually full this time!
He takes out the ring just as the headmaster appears! Oops, the invisibility spell must have worn off...
"What are you doing with my ring?" he asked in a menacing voice.
"Stopping you!" was the reply.
The headmaster extends a hand, and the ring floats onto his finger. Palandir prepares to launch his spell.
"I do not think you understand the gravity of the situation," the headmaster said. He pointed at the wall, where Caldis appeared, tied and surrounded by guards. "Try to kill me, and you know what will happen!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Palandir is not sure what to do. He looks at Caldis, and immediately gets an idea. He casts his spell at the middle of the room, where a magical deflector has suddenly appeared. The bolt splits up, freezing the headmaster, burning the Shadow Guards, and cutting Caldis's bonds. The light is also so powerful that it knocks the headmaster unconscious, and the acid eats through him so he drops the ring.
Caldis and Palandir call their friends, who put a strong bond on the headmaster and carry him away. Palandir picks up the ring, which has somewhat decreased in power since the event.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then someone asked, "Where's Shade?"
They all looked around and realized that he must still be in Guriand. Palandir forms a rescue mission of five light magicians, including him and Caldis. He opens the portal and they all teleport to the land where Shade is still blindly searching for his item...
When they get there, they realize that Guriand is well-named...Death-land. This must have been the first place the headmaster had conquered. They only had a few hours to find Shade―and his treasure―before the land collapsed.
(Your turn, Shade; you must find your item quickly and return to us!)

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned, it was a sacred river OF BLOOD! Shade makes a running jump over the river but something grabs his leg as he is about to grab the fabled whateve-it-is on the other end. He turns to see a Zombie grabbing his foot. "God, undead are annoying!" Shade shoots a bolt of lightning beheading the zombie and grabs the stone running towards where the portal was. Shade gets back and finds Palandir, Caldis, and some other light mages. "Open the portal! Quick! This world will be destroyed in 7 seconds!"

Palandir opens the portal quickly, and they all escape just as Guriand collapses. Back at home, he tells Shade, "Well...I guess we didn't need the Sarn Gul {=Stone of Magic} after all."
The final question is...what to do with the ring? If the headmaster gets it back, then they face his threat again. If they destroy it, then the school might fall down, because the headmaster had partially been using its power to keep the crumbling architecture together. The logical solution would be to just evacuate the school, destroy the ring, and rebuild the academy later. The only problem is, they have nowhere to destroy it that would be easy to get to, even with Palandir's teleportation skills.
(ok! I admit it! I'm a LOTR fan!)
...Unless they used the Sarn Gul! It could help extend his powers, so he could reach the place they could destroy the ring! The only question is...where is that?

Nope! You can be the one who thinks up the place to take the ring...

could you fill me in on the story up to now?
Well, the school's headmaster has planned to take over the world and we are trying to stop him. Ok, we sort have already, but, we need to get rid of the ring so he can't take over or kill us. "What if we brought it to Guriand. I know the world collapesd, but I know someone who might be able to do something..."
oh, name the next chapter "Destroying the Ring"

Chapter 4: the destruction
Shade has suggested that they take it to Guriand and let it be destroyed with the land. However, the land has already been destroyed. But does the ring have any time-traveling powers? Palandir will see...

Destroying the Ring
A grim-looking mage slips into the room. "Nice bauble. Pilfer it from Headmaster? Looks like It could cause us some trouble. You gotta be careful where you dispose of certain Enchanted Vestments."

The mage's speech is cut short. All has gone back in time. Shade is still in Guriand, and they have just formed the search party. Palandir has a vague suspicion that he should tell the teachers to evacuate the school, but he does not know why...
They save Shade and the Sarn Gul, then Palandir leaves the ring there to be destroyed with the land.

Back at home, they hear a loud scream from the prison where the headmaster is being kept, which is then cut short. The school is empty otherwise; the teachers must have listened to Palandir's advice. He quickly teleports them out just as the school crumbles and falls.

I used the ring to go back in time. You might get it better if you actually read the story from the beginning.

Epilogue
All is well! The school has been rebuilt, the headmaster has been overthrown, the Stone of Sarn Gul is in safekeeping by the school, and Palandir, Caldis, Shade, and all the rest have each received their own Great staff! Palandir hopes his will come in handy at the Wizardry Games for winning against Shade.
Oh, well, some things never change...

Bonus: The Great Wizardry Games!
"I know you were looking forward to this, Shade! Prepare to lose!"
Palandir shot a bolt of light into the air, which exploded into a bunch of fireworks. The announcer's voice rang out:
"Let the games begin!"

He quickly writes a note and teleports it to Furore. It says "Thanks."
