What Is This About: ScratchR's Speak out is going to be a new project series that will
be out every weekend. I need help due to the fact it will have
information from the Scratch community.
How It Works: There will be a question/topic every week. All you have to do is
respond back with how you feel about the question/topic.
Note: Please respond with honesty, do not use fowl language, and do not disrespect
someone because of there opinion. (think of the first amendment)
Reason is it is going to be in the Issue and
you will be getting credit if you contribute your opinion. If you don't want your
user name to be given out in the project just say so. You do not have to
participate every week, if you don't want to

Weekly Topic/Question: What would you like to see in the next
Scratch version

There is no remixing problem, everything on scratch is shared under the creative commons license, "You are free to Remix — to adapt the work", this clearly says that you are free to remix, although on this condition: "Attribution. You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work)." That is the same thing as the "remix of __ project" tag under remixed projects.

I would like it so people cant remix their own project and a project has maybe a max amount of remixes...

My intake: I don't think there is any problem at all with remixing. I think its a great way to show how you can improve someones project. If someone remixes it in an inappropriate way or does not follow terms of use then it can be a problem. If that occurs then it should just be dealt by the Scratch team.

But then if I wanted to work on my own game I would always have to share it under the same name, what if I wanted my project to have a new look because I made so many changes, then what?

Yeah, andresmh has suggested to use the number of people who remixed as a count instead of remixes.

What if you really need to remix your project more than ten times? I think Techy's idea

has more potential.

Yes there are people that abuse the remixing privilege, I think the Scratch team is working on how they can fix that problem with people remixing themselves

Maybe you could think of some other things you would like to replace remix with like for instance Top Favored. Some might think top loved is the same but its not, favored could be useful projects like tutorials. When i say useful i mean come in handy when in need not meaning they are useless

maybe you could make a blog for this or use mine : http://scratchrsspeakout.blogspot.com/

Generally, I am in favor of remixing...as long as credit is given, either automatically or manually in the Project Notes. However, I have seen cases where people have abused the remixing feature by making insulting projects or have failed to give credit (and have actively worked to defeat the automatic credit). Therefore, I am favoring a plan where you can deny those people the privilege of remixing your work by adding them to your Ignore list. So, in addition to not being able to comment on your projects, Ignored people would not be able to download your projects. Let me know what you think of this idea.
As for the Remix section of the Front Page...repairs are being made.
Great idea for a forum topic, by the way!
