Ridiculously hard question from a newbe (oh dear...)

Hi there!

Through a sequence of events I got asked about doing an introduction to coding workshop, and as I don't turn down work, despite the fact I haven't ran one before I started asking about what I could use to run one, and a fof recommended Scratch!  I don't know if the workshop'll be going ahead, but it's nice to know about these things anyway, and I'll try to introduce it to a school I work at as well... though I'm in the drama rather than IT department :S ...

So, the tricky question...

As Scratch exports a Java applet - can it export something that will work on a mobile phone???

Re: Ridiculously hard question from a newbe (oh dear...)

bhz: I think it deserves a bit more than one word, given:
http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=7622
which discusses Samsung's "Softboard" platform, which is flavor of Scratch.

yogyog: In general, right now I don't know of any java players on standard cellphones that will play mainstream Scratch projects. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the smart folks at MIT are considering that in their brainstorming session...

And it's cool that an artist/drama teacher is the one doing the Scratch introduction. I think it is well-suited for artists/designers who want to prototype things or come up with art installations and the like.
