Network Version of Scratch?

Recently it has come to my attention that when saving projects, sprites, etc., everything is saved to Scratch and not to either their documents folder or a separate network folder. This has caused numerous problems with work getting overwritten, lost, etc.

Can anyone advise me how to overcome this issue?
Thanks very much.

Re: Network Version of Scratch?

When the kids go to save a file, do you get the list of buttons on the left side of the window--desktop, projects, computer, home?  On the macs we use, once the kids choose one of these to save to, that location comes up as the saving place for the rest of the session.

We had your problem often in the older versions of Scratch, before they added these buttons.

Re: Network Version of Scratch?

Thanks, you are correct. A bit of planning ahead and I could have probably figured this out. That's what I will do in the future. Unfortunately, I didn't do this before we lost so many sprites...argg!

Re: Network Version of Scratch?

The default save location is being discussed with the Scratch team in this thread here -- hopefully they'll get it fixed in an update sooner than later.  smile
