Re: Website to learn Scratch.

The Scratch team has been concentrating on creating scratch, and has not created much in the way of tutorial or reference material, relying on the user community to provide that.  It looks like Juan Carlos Olabe and the LearnScratch team has started to fill that niche.  Congratulations to them!

Re: Website to learn Scratch.

Wow!  What am impressive set of tutorials and thoughtful project choices.

I had an email from a teacher asking about lesson plans or project outlines, so this is a great resource.  I wonder if it is possible to collect in one place a list of what other educators have made as well?  ...Or is this being done?  At various times people have posted here sharing their resources, but finding those references again means lots of digging.

Re: Website to learn Scratch.

Others have prepared lesson plans and tutorials.  I have not collected                                                              all the pointers from the scratch forums yet, but two of them were

Learnscratch looks promising.
Why not discuss it on the Scratch Facebook group...'Scratch On!'

Re: Website to learn Scratch.

Some schools have informed us that they will begin using the video tutorials in the classroom this semester.

In some cases they have requested to provide them with the video-tutorials on CD. This will allow them not to load the Internet connection in their schools, especially when each student accesses the lectures individually.

If you prefer to access the lectures locally, please send us the name and address of your institution and we will mail you a CD. You can install them in as many computers as you need.

We have been asked also to provide formal Lesson Plans. We will have these ready in the next few days. We will post this information as well.

Re: Website to learn Scratch.

Are any lesson plans available yet Juan Carlos?

I am using Scratch in a high school multimedia class and running fast as I try to stay ahead of my students with projects while creating quizzes and tests.

Trying to create some type of sequence as we move from animation to simple games to more complex games.

Any one have any ideas to share on sequencing lessons in this area?

Re: Website to learn Scratch.

I have also put together a website that teaches Scratch.  It doesn't have much, but it does explain, thoroughly, how to make a game.

Well, if you want to write a tutorial, you may, but other than that I don't need any help (yet)

Re: Website to learn Scratch.

I am trying to compile a list of resources for learning scratch and to rate them.  I've gone through the links on this page and begun the list.  I'll keep going through the forums to look for more.

Um… wouldn't you just link to the home page of Scratch? Or the all about section?

Yes, and the community seems to be doing a rather excellant job of it. It is not at all difficult to find learning material now for scratch. The more we push this site to our peers, the better it can become.
