Saving and reading problems

After finshing my best project ever I saved the file a while later I tried opening it but it said "Could not read project; file may be damaged: (Message not understood)" But it was fine before. Can someone help I don't want to start all over. 8(

That message usually means that you closed Scratch before it finished saving the file.  I'm sorry to say that I don't know of any way to recover from that error.

You should always make sure that it is full saved before you exit, especially on a PC. How I do this, is I first click "Save," then click "New." If it opens a new one, it was saved correctly, else, the message to save will appear, and you can do so.

You could try dismantling the hard drive and/or getting a technician to try to see if it can be recovered if you lost a lot of work.
