Trouble importing gif-files as background

Hi,

when I want to import a new background gif-files don't seem to work - not even the ones that are supplied with scratch. When you click on the picture and click ok (or double-click on picture) the window closes but nothing happens.

Jpg-Files just work fine.

Can anybody help?

Are they the right size?  Not sure if that matters, but it might be worth checking.

Have you tried creating a new, blank, background then using the picture editor to import your pic, rather than importing it directly?
