Hello, I know this isn't really the right forum, but I don't think there is one, and this community is the only place I know of that might be able to help me.
I'm trying to download/buy/whatever adobe actionscript (is that the same thing as flash?) And I can't find where to actually *buy* - it it costs money, or download if it's free.
I've been to their site, and whatnot, but I don't see where to get it.
Help please? Thanks!

It costs a lot so you may want to consider getting an older version that is used.

Thank you so much for trying to help me, but could you possibly send me a link to the product? the search you sent me was sort of vague as to which one was the correct item.
Thanks

Sorry to ask another question before you replied, but what is hindering me finding it, is that i really don't know what it's called!
What is this language that people on scratch call "flash"
Is this what I'm looking for (plus a bunch of extra stuff, ignore the price.)

Flash is a program used to create flash files. To program in flash, you use a language called actionscript or sometimes called flash actionscript. There are 3 versions of actionscript, AS1, AS2, AS3. AS3 has been a part of flash since adobe bought macromedia (versions older than CS3 are called macromedia flash). AS3 is the prefered language by most professionals because it is many times faster than AS2 but it is stricter and more difficult to use, but it promotes better programming habits.
The link you provided shows the newest version of flash Adobe Flash CS4. Its top new features include: an inverse kinematics tool, 3D support, and an advanced motion editor.

Okay, that has helpful, thank you. What I'm not understanding, is this:
What product need I buy to be able to program.
I don't need anything else, but I don't know what it's called, so I don't know what to look for.
Are you saying that actionscript is used to program in flash? if so, what edition/version of "flash" do I need to buy?
Thanks again for your time.

The oldest version of flash you can possibly buy now is flash MX. You can't get any version of flash now that does not support actionscript.
Here are the versions of flash and their action script capability.
Macromedia Flash MX AS1/AS2
Macromedia Flash 8 AS1/AS2
Adobe Flash CS3 AS1/AS2/AS3
Adobe Flash CS4 AS1/AS2/AS3
Those are all the official names for the products.
