*3. The JFK Library was also bombed.
Also, there has been a picture going around on Twitter showing a small girl running with the caption "Retweet for respect". It says that the girl died running for the Sandy Hook kids. This didn't happen, no 8 year-old girl died.can eight year olds even run a marathon? im pretty sure it's biologically impossible
it was a girl in the audience

Anyway this is pretty sad, although it could have been a lot worse ("only" three people died, obviously that's three too much but compared to what could have happened then it's pretty lucky [TO CLARIFY: I'm not saying it's acceptable that three people died, before anyone takes offense, just that it could have been a whole lot worse]). Hopefully everyone that was injured/affected by it gets better soon and can live a normal lifeFor some reason it looked really awkward to me typing my username in a post but okay.
Yeah, terrorism cannot be stopped by such simple means, people are like "Hurr durr oh there was a school shooting? BAN GUNS". That's not going to work. Personally I am not in support of that idea but that's another story. Even if you outlaw it that's not going to help anything, people will still do it, why even bother.
I respect your opinion but replace it with another idea and it seems absurd:

If I may comment politely, there's a large difference between outlawing murder, and banning guns in addition.
Outlawing murder will deter anyone that doesn't want to break the law - they likely don't want to murder in the first place. (Your argument seems to forget that murder is outlawed in the first place.)
Banning (some) guns restricts access to the ability to murder as easily. Clearly, as we see here, there are ways to commit acts of terrorism without them, but it's still a good idea to take precaution. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
Also, people are talking about us defining any foreign attacks as "terrorism", but isn't anything that openly does something like this, domestic or not, terrorism?

I think aliens attacked us.What, no dude.
Aliens are not that evil.
Actually, who's to say? There are many reasons why an alien would want to do something like that. They could want to strike panic among us so it will be easier to conquer us. They could want to kill us little by little by targeting places where there are a lot of people. There might be an intergalactic war going on and a lot of the runners were actually spies. But most importantly, what WE call an act of EVIL, THEY might call an act of EXTERMINATION!

There is some evidence to support that on Reddit and other sources...but I think we may have to wait a few more hours for the official account of what happened.
As far as I know, everybody on the Scratch Team is safe. Sadly, a campus policeman was shot and killed but I have not heard of any injuries to students or faculty.

MIT posted about this about an hour ago on Facebook. I don't understand why people do these things.

My understanding is that it was somehow related to the chase for the bombing suspects - perhaps the police person discovered the suspects. I'm sure there will be better information as the day goes on.

Scary stuff! Sounds like MIT is going to be closed today as a result of the shooting last night.
Just to let everyone know - everyone in the ST is all ok. But our hearts go out to the family of the MIT police officer who was killed.

I don't actually think it was aliens, I was simply stating the reason that aliens might do it. I was replying to the comment above.
