I said I could write some prefaces and the introduction...
Also instead of prefaces to each story, how about a small little overview and critique of the stories that comes afterwards?

Minimum or maximum?

NeilWest's could probably serve as a decent minimum.
So, minimum is 700.

I'll put the maximum at 10,000 not because I expect them to be that long but too accommodate any potentially longer stories.

Doesn't 10,000 seem like a bit of a stretch, though?
Also would you plan on submitting a story yourself?

That is only around 3 pages of normal writing.

Re: The Scratchers' Short Story Anthology

short stories can be very long
my brother's friend wrote a short story that was like 40k or something
there's really no line between short story and novella iirc, it's what you want it to be until about 50k

Re: The Scratchers' Short Story Anthology

Well like The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is 38k, and we call it a novel/la.

Anyway, banana if you want to discuss things more drop your gmail in the username portion of the submission form and I can make a doc for us to discuss it in!

And 10,000 is definitely not three pages of normal writing. Maybe 1000 is.

animal farm by george orwell is about 30k and my copy is like 120 pages
so that would make 10k be about 40 pages (paperback size)

I wrote a 10k story once in fourth grade and (double-spaced) it was about 65 pages, so single spaced would be 30.

also depends on the word length, kerning, and various other factors, but that sounds at least somewhat plausible

edit: i just looked at a story i wrote that is 10k+ and the 10k mark is like 16 pages so idk?

Re: The Scratchers' Short Story Anthology

I'll be putting everything in one font (Comic Sans) in the same size (76) so it should all turn out standard.

Haha you just copy/pasted that from the Doc didn't you. :P

Anyways I think the maximum should be 15000 words.
