Right know we are in the pre-Alpha release stage (still finishing concept). See the second post for more details.

Since we are doing popular books, can we also do Harry Potter?

Oh, great idea!  Do you think it should be based on teleportation, or spells to get rid of obstacles, or a mix.  (I know teleportation isn't that common, but it could be cool)

I think it might be nice to have specific battle scenes, such as Harry against the dementors at the end of the "Prisoner of Azkaban" and Harry against the Inferi in the "Half-Blood Prince", where you would do a third-person survival mode where you would aim and fire spells at the enemy. However, it might be hard to find some of the graphics. Also, I think you should post a copy of this thread in the "Show and Tell" section of the 2.0 forums to attract more people that have already switched.

Also, I just thought of something. Are we splitting up to divide and conquer, or are we working on only one part at a time? Second, are we having a rank system, where we have a leader of each category (scripting, graphics, etc.)?

I had thought that having it with a platformer type concept would make the story work better, but I think your idea would work well.  I thought we would have a level for each book if you think that would work.

Well, I think we should develop in sections, such as: brainstorm, flesh out ideas, work on base engine/graphics for sprites, make a title screen, perfect code, test, debug, test, release.  (Sorry, my development plan is a bit too long).  Second, I think that if we have more members, we could have group leaders, but for now it would be superfluous.
Also, I think we should make a gallery for our collab.  That way, everyone could post in it and getting the attention would be easy.  Good idea?  Unnecessary?  Please post your thoughts.

Re: Power Productions -- accepting members

I think your plan is good, but I think we should make the title screen and menus first (for ease and organization), and that we should upload to 2.0 every update so it isn't deleted in the transition. However, as you previously stated, we can upload it to 1.4 as well. We NEED a gallery, so that we get messages from our teammates, and we can list our objectives and our progress / completion. Also, I can help with testing while programming it as well, so we don't screw up and mess up the whole thing. For example, we could upload it in several versions and insert it into the gallery, such as having a version 0.1, v 0.2, etc. Lastly, we should have advertisements in projects by us as much as possible to find possible recruits. We might also want to split up the game into multiple projects (Harry Potter, Eragon, Dragon Ball, etc.) so we don't get confused. Make the gallery on 1.4 so Mew can use it, as he is a new scratcher and can't use the beta.

Ok, thanks for the input.  I will do that stuff as soon as I can.

We currently have one remaining spot for programmer, and three for artist. If you were going to fill either of these, do it quickly!

Re: Power Productions -- accepting members

All members, we have a new job.  We need to decide what is going to happen at the opening screen.  Will we have a signature animation for the collab?  Will we have an option to view credits, instructions, etc., or will that be in-game?  Most important, what will the title be?  Please post your thoughts.

Re: Power Productions -- accepting members

At the beginning, there will be a logo of "Power Productions", then a 3-second-long clip showing profile pictures of the members. The home screen will then appear, where you can choose your world. There will be Eragon, Wolves of the Beyond, Dragon Ball Z, Harry Potter, and credits. I can make an example if needed. Each person could make their own icon for the members screen at the beginning.

That sounds good.  I was thinking that some worlds should be locked at first.  Does that sound viable?

That sounds like a good idea to me. Or, how about you have to start with, let's say, the first Eragon level, then you unlock the first level of everything else, and you proceed with different completion in each category. The levels would be short and easy, until we get cloud lists for player progress that saves.

Yes, that sounds good.  I also saw that it looks like we want to have minigames.  Do you think they should be unlockable as well?

Let's make sure we have the same idea of "levels": I would prefer to have each world have mini-games as levels, but they unlock in chronological order. Are you suggesting we make a platformer for the levels instead? If so, having separate mini-games would be fine with me.

I was suggesting something like every world having a different concept (like one could be a 3rd person survival, one could be a puzzle game) and we would have different levels that follow the basic rules of that genre but have some extra features, and mini games would be separate portions.  Kind of like angry birds levels.

I was just about to post that here.  The translations might be tricky, but they would definitely be helpful.  Also, I like the idea of a more in-depth credits screen at the title screen.

That is a great idea. We might have to split up the project or shorten it, though, if we have too much lag from too many variables, lists, scripts, and sprites throughout the different worlds. If we could manage to stuff it all into one project, it would be the ultimate collaborative success. First, we need to determine which section will be done first. Should we take a vote in our gallery? (No cloud variables, because not all of our members have access to the 2.0 beta.

I assume that by sections you mean which worlds we should do?  Sorry if I seem a bit slow thinking, I'm tired and swamped today.

Yes, by sections I do mean world, but of course we will get the intro done first. Are we going with my idea? I can make an example project at your request, if you want.
