I stay at home and my kind, and all my family comes to give gifts and stuff after church.
Why is everyone's grandparents on this forum eccentric in some way?

I've only had like one chocolate bunny around Easter over the span of probably 10 years
They're okay, but I'd probably rather spend my $5-$10 bucks somewhere else

Uhhhhh music or something maybe
Maybe I'd just save it, huh??

I've always wondered how Easter went from being about Jesus Christ to anthropomorphic bunnies laying chocolate eggs.
Easter is derived from pagan traditions and icons and such, specifically, the god of fertility (which is what the bunny is a symbol of). When the Romans became Christian, they took their traditions and changed them slightly, and said that they were about certain Christian things. That's what Easter is, and Christmas, and various other common celebrations. Which is also why Jesus wasn't actually born anywhere near Christmas time, because that actually came from something completely unrelated to him. Though, conveniently, Easter is actually very close to Jesus' death (this year it's the 26th).
the chocolate part came out of nowhere tho
I don't know man
Jesus is just a very giving dude
Presents for us on HIS birthday, chocolate on His second birthday?
And chocolate bunnies are cool only if they aren't the horrible waxy off-brand chocolate.

i'd imagine that's a case of confirmation bias, as you only remember the eccentric ones

Sadly, I don't like most hollow "Easter Bunnies", even though everyone else in my family loves them. Most of them have almost no real chocolate, which ruins it.

The Community Guidelines say that you have to be honest, though.

The Community Guidelines say that you have to be honest, though.
But you also have to be respectful of the carefully constructed façades!!!

I love Easter. Our family colors eggs, and has and egg hunt, and we go to our grandparents house for ham and rolls. The "Easter bunny" hides our baskets all around the house and we find them in the oddest places.

I think it's pretty awful that parents lie to their kids about something as silly as a magical bunny
But at the same time I wish I could still believe in garbage like that
