Spirited Away had some moments.
Like paper aeroplanes nearly cutting a water dragon to death.

And a lot of other Studio Ghibli films too (Princess Mononoke).
I haven't seen Spirited Away in forever though...

NO NO! that movie is not even REMOTELY appropriate for kids, violence, incredible amounts of animal abusing ( including acid use...), and very adult themes.

Wouldn't it then be a particularly good choice of a dark animated film?

They probably wouldn't have known any of that or felt compelled to do so if you hadn't pointed all that out

The delivery was so perfect it felt out of place, ironically.
Anyway, is the implication of this topic that animation isn't necessarily meant to be as dark as live action?
Animation is a style - not a genre aimed at kiddies.

I never really meant it that way, I know that animation is an art form, the purpose of this topic is solely to list those having dark material. Animation does not always have to be catering towards children, as you said, but people posting here are making it out to be.
We already mentioned The Plague Dogs and Felidae, which really aren't meant for kids at all.

...so?
Again, not all animated films are for kids, bro.

Whoops. :P
Okay then I'll change the topic post.
I misworded that, I meant animated films that either have tense or dark scenes or are dark as a whole.

It certainly freaked me out when I was younger but at the same time gave me some sense of intrigue, not a lot of movies can do that for me.
