The song came out in late 1979 and the album in 1980 so I'm not sure if it's exactly 70's...but by that logic it's not really 80's either. Sort of that strange transitional period that occurs every decade...but nonetheless.
@Neil - That was a really clever way of putting it. They're an okay group in my book, but the overplay really jades my opinion in them.

The problem I find with fun. is that their earlier music isn't that bad - but radio overplay has commercialized their music - meaning TOO MUCH AUTOTUNE AND TERRIBLE LYRICS.

The only autotune I've really seen (and I haven't listened to much of them) is that one part in their 'commercialized' song, Some Nights. But that is obviously on purpose. It's not to make his voice 'better'.

Listen to It Gets Better and Stars. The auto tune is definitely not on purpose cause Nate live is just as good as his voice on recordings.

i kinda like fun they sound sort of like onerepublic and a little bit like one direction...
i like we are young and carry on but there other stuff is just kinda weird no offense

Hm. Probably to play with it. I don't think they'd do it to make Nate sound better cause I've looked up the live versions and he sounds great. So I guess it's just playing with effects.

I agree with onerepublic but one direction? No. Just no. one direction is overrated no offense.
