i've always found it funny how the monster/whatever doesn't start chasing until the person runs away
they spend like five seconds just staring at each other and it's only when the person runs away that the monster makes any attempt to get him

I just read about hammerspace.  However, there is one episode where she needs chocolate for her grandma and Backpack offers her a chocolate bar.  I do like the "hammerspace" theory, though.
